Sod House Museum to Host
“What Do 1 Do with My
Treasures?^ Workshop
ALINE — The Sod House Museum near Aline will host a workshop called “What
Do 1 Do with My Treasures?" by Martha Ray of Pawnee on Saturday, August 15,
at 10 a.m. Information will be presented on w hat items to save, what to dispose of,
what to ask your children or younger family members if they would like to keep
and how to correctly store those treasured objects you cannot bear to let go. Ray's
workshop discussion topics will include what items to donate and how to receive tax
deductions, what types of artifacts museums may find of interest and how to support
thrift shops.
Different generations may have different views of what items should be saved, as
well as different methods to preserve them. While an older generation may carefully
save and label the original prints of historic family photographs, younger genera-
tions may scan those images and record the information digitally. Parents sometimes
save antique dishes, old clothing, authentic furniture and family heirlooms that they
wish to pass on to their children or grandchildren, whether for sentimental reasons
or because they think the items might have significant monetary' value. It is possible,
however, that the children or grandchildren may have a different view of these trea-
sures.
Participate in the “What Do I Do with My Treasures?” workshop to learn how to
ensure your cherished items find the best home possible. Call the museum at 580-
463-2441 for additional information about the workshop.
The Sod House Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and is located
southeast of Aline on State Highway 8. For more information contact Director Re-
nee Trindle at 580-463-2441 or sodhouse@okhistory.org.
The Sod House Museum is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society. The
mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve and share the his-
tory and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people. Founded in 1893 by mem-
bers of the Territorial Press Association, the OHS maintains museums, historic sites
and affiliates across the state. Through its research archives, exhibits, educational
programs and publications the OHS chronicles the rich history of Oklahoma. For

Graduation
The Northern Oklahoma College Class of 2020

Ceremony held Saturday, Aug. 8. The ceremony is
not live, but the link to the virtual commencement
will be made active at www.noc.edu Aug. 8 at 9:30

graduation.
NOC is partnering with Fogarty Services to pro-
vide each graduate of the NOC Class of 2020 the
opportunity to share and celebrate this milestone
with supporters, family, friends, faculty and staff or
fellow graduates through a personalized virtual com-
mencement celebration.
The virtual ceremony will contain many of the
same aspects as the traditional ceremony including a
message from NOC President Dr. Cheryl Evans and
commencement speaker Diane Anderson.
“We are so disappointed that we could not share
this moment with our graduates and their families,”
said NOC President Dr. Cheryl Evans. “We chose
the virtual graduation as the best option based on the
current environment. Our top priority is the safety of
our students and their families.”
Evans said the virtual ceremony gives the students
an opportunity to share the graduation experience
with their families.
