Shaw Gains In
Congress Race
With only a few days remaining
until the iun-bff primary next Tues
day it appears today that Ora s A
Shaw hao strengthened his posAtion
throughout the 1st Congressional
District Shaw holds a decisive ad-
vantage in the congress race by rea-
son of the big lead he piled up in
the first primary on July 2nd At
that time Shaw received several
thiousand more votes than his near-
est opponent and close political ob-
servers concede that this plurality
is so large it can not be overcome
These observers also feel that the
votes received by Milton Burt and
C A Gentry in the first primary
will largely ge to Shaw They base
this on the fact that Bushyhead
has made two district wide cam-
paigns and his name is well known
Consequently he Polled his ton
strength in the July 2nd election
Shaw on the other hand is still
building and should win the run-off
dection easily
Shaw carried his home county of
Tulsa by more than MO votes and
since it is predicted that even more
vot-8 will be cast in Tulsa on July
23rd than were cast in thefirst pri-
ntery he is expected to pile up an
even bigger lead than he had before
With a light vote expected in the
counties where Shaw was weakest
Ids big margin in his home county
assures hint the democratic nomine-
tion Oras A Shaw has condueted an
exceptionally clean campaign and
has received mbny favorable com-
ments on the nature of his cam-
paign Shaw is running on his own
qualifications and standing on his
own feet as he has done ttdi his
life
Having wide business experiences
been al district judge for eight years
and laving been a dairy farmer for
15 years Shaw has gained Widp-
spread support of his own proven
ability
Shaw today urged everyone to go
to the poles next Tuesday and vote
"Congress is the most imillortant of-
fice to be voted on The caliber of
men we send to Congress will deter-
mine the future of our country It
is imperative that we return our
government to the people" Shaw
