Yuh Ito! Explorers How many
ho4bles can you name!
After fifty years of hobby Mg I
am finding out a lot of new things
about hobbies and about peoples'
reaction to the word "hobby"
For awhile I took It for granted
that we all have a standardised
Idea about what constitutes a hob-
by Ive found out differently Idy
approach now is: What do you do
In your spare time? Mhat do you
like best to do in your leisure
homy? What do you do when
you du as you please? What would
yo udo if you had plenty of time
and money to do what you would
tallier do than anything else?
This morning I talked with 'a
young merchant whose father I htd
known for many years as a collec
tor of stamps and oddities of rucks
and minerals The son said "Why
I haven't any hobbles All I do is
t4 collect stamps for my little
daughter until she gets old enough'
to do it herself Well of course I
go in for motion and still pictures
in technicolor For an hour then
he tild me of special trips he had
taken to distant States Just to get
his own pictures of scenery or cit
ies or farms Ile has spent hund-
tirecial Of dollars on that personal
interest and yet he "doesit t have
a hobby" Can you beat that?
Now let's see if we can find sozne
ykiasible explanation for tins un-
certainty by setting up a few cab
tguritto First we may daiiinguixii

times Of life A simple way to look
at I U to distinguish between work
and play Nearly any one can un-
ikratand that if I can You work
for pay and you play for fun Our
concern here Is the "play for fun"
tart of life This is a hobby organ-

for youth for adults for shuthts
