1et us not forget the original
purpose of Thanksgiving Day
Many of us will observe it by feast-
ing and merry making Some will
bay° before hand made some pro-
vision that those less fortunate
than themselves shall have a bet-1
ter Thanksgiving Day But most
ofus will forget to take time to
thank Almighty God for his many
blesSings to us a most favored peo-
ple: "Go your nay eat the fat
led drink the 'sweet and send
portions unto him for whom
nothing is prepared for this
day is holy unto the Lord
Neither be ye grieved: for the
Joy of the Lord is strength"
—Nehemiah 8:10
Next Sunday the minister's
theme Will be "Foreign Missions
muter Fire"—and exposition of the
reasons for the recent criticism of
the foreign missionary enterprise
and The answer to these objections
The Senior Christian Endeavor
society will begin a series of meet-
logs on the theme "What is a
Wholesome Christian Personality?"
At the mid-week services we
shhil continue a study of the dis-

ject of the Lesson Sermon in all
the Churches of Christ Scientist
on Thanksgiving Day
The Golden Text IH from 1 Thes-
salonians 5:10-18 "Rejoice every-
more Pray without ceasing In
everything give thanks: for this is
the will of God in Christ Jesus
concerning you"
Among the citations which con
mtitute the Lesson Sermon is the
following from the Bible "Serve
the Lord with gladness: come be-
fore his presence with singing En-
ter into his gates with thanksgiv-
ing and into his courts with praime:'
he thinkful unto him and bless
his name For the Lord is good: his
mercy is everlasting and his truth
endureth to all generations" (Ps
100:245)
The Lesson Sermon also includes
the following citation from the
Christian Science textbook "Sci-
ence and Health with Key to the
Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy:
"Christians rejoice in secret beauty
and bounty hidden from the world
but known to God Self forgetful
TRIM purity and affection are con-
stant prayers Practice not profes-

the ear and right hand of omni-
potence and they assuredly call
demi infinite blessings" (p 16)

American Freedom Must Be Guarded

is an important objective of the
Americanism program of the Vet-
erans of Foreign Wars of the
United States according to G Ten-
font Moss chairman Americanism
committee department of Okla-

Addressing the members of his
unit at their regular meeting Wed-
nesday night at the City Hall No-
vember 27th Chairman Moss de-
clared that it was no part of the
V F W plan to prevent the
teaching of Communism Hillerhon

the American form of government
"Our organization believes very
practically in the basic freedoms
of America's democracy" Moss re-
minded his bearers "If we were
to deny these un-American groups
the r ight to free speech and free
dom of the press we should be
partaking of the same evils we de-
seise The Veterans of Foreign
Wars of the United States believe
that these very groups given
enough rope will hang themselves
Every time an Earl Browder or a

public he proves the immeasurable
superiority of Americanism over
any other theory of government in
the world today"
The Americanism program of
the V F W includes opposition
to Communism Fascism and Naz-

portation of alien criminals and
those who seek to overthrow our
