The hardest blow the tax payers
of El Reno have received in a long
time outside of their paving tax
comes with the announcement of the
Superior court that the 1911 tax pay-
ment which was enjoined by
Many has been reverstA and the
treasurer ordered to collect The
people are hit with a penalty of 18
per cent for two years It is tierce
but it must be endured
One of our out of town exchanges
thinks it has observed a marked
change in the moral tone of the El
Reno newspapers and wonders why
That is easy They are no longer
run owned or controlled by news-
Pa Per scavangers
SNUBBED ACLIIN
The committee who prepared and
circulated petitions to amend the
City Charter as well as 279 electors
who Signed the petitions are not only
disgusted with the Mayor but are
roundly berating him for ignoring
the petitions and ru fusing to submit
the matter to vote They claim
that they elfid 277 names with the
first batch of petitions or 7 more
names than was necessary under
the law and that Saturday they
stood guard at his office door from
eight o'clock In the morning until
six o'clock at night watching for a
chance to file 20 more names but
that his "royal nibs" was hiding out
to prevent any more names from be-
ing tiled
After six o'clock they claim that
they called witnesses and filed the
riantetf' by - siipping then
under the door This is what we
call making laws under difficulties
Verily it is easier for a camel to
go through the eye of a needle than
for El Reno to amend her charter
Yea it is easier to overthrow a city
than it is to pull the plastic teat out
of the mouth of a hungry commis-
sioner Twice the people of this city have
petitioned twice they have been ig-
nored nosi3O11 once made a tea-pot of her
harbor for a less indignity but NI
Reno has no harbor and but little
analine in her blood

every effort in'my powet-thcolithict
the business of the city in a judicious
economical manner I believe the
conditions at present require the
strictest retrenchement and economy
as our taxes are burdensome and our
methods are extravagant and have a
tendency to keeping capital and in-
vestments away from our city
If elected Mayor my sole object
Will be to work for the wellfare of
our citizens and to consider at any
time suggestions from any residents
of the city—as I shall consider my-
self as representing all the inter-
ests of the people and not my per-
