WI J Long To Run
For 'Representative
Pau Is Valley Okla
October 28 1925
Editor Democrat:
At the solicitation of my
friends I have decided to enter
the race for Representative of
Garvin County in the August
Democratic primaries
I have no particular legisla-
tion that I wish enacted but
think many of our present laws
should be amended and some re-
pealed If elected my principal
efforts will be directed on tax re-
duction Our next congress will
reduce our taxes three or four
hundred million dollars Why not
reduce our taxes all down the
line even in Garvin County and
Paula Valley as the burden is
too heavy to bear and if we can-
not 'get some relief the most of
us will be bankrupt
Any thoughtful man after look-
ing over the mortgage record and
the list of property both in the
towns and country advertised for
taxes would pause and wonder
where we were drifting
I do not claim to have more
than the average ability but have
had considerable experience in
the thirty years I lived in Texas
and the thirty-five in Oklahoma
I was Notary Public Road Over-
seer and Postmaster in Texas and
have been horse trader Alderman
country store keeper wholesale

as they obey the will of man and
at a simple and quiet direction
perform the most marvelous feats
Fire the most terrifying ele-

like a wild cat to the back of his

The cattle barons the men who blazed the trail across
weary miles of prairies who hewed their way through im-
penetrable forests fought through fire and flood to conquer
the Southwest felt even in Roosevelt's time that they were
slowly being pushed out by the homesteaders The fingers
of progress were too strong even for these hardy pioneers—
and finally began the egress across the border of these un-
conquered hearts seeking new ranges for their great herds
That is the story of Sundown set in dramatic scenes of
an amazing drive of 100000 cattle The story of their toils
in which they 'laid in blood and suffering their daring anti
heroic deeds their wonderful romances will set the blood
atingle One of the biggest pictures with the biggest ides
of the period
