Operator Distance Dialing
During the month of April the operators here in Cl(ve-
land are going to start dialing their own numbers through-
out the nation We have been very busy during the past
several weeks training everyone for this big event Operator
distance dialing will permit the operators in Cleveland to
dial direct to millions of telephones throughout the nation
The average time of completion of these calls if the customer
knows the number will be less than one minute
We are really looking forward to being included in this
nationwide system and feel that you as our subscribers will be
very pleased with the progress we have made
2400 Calls a Minute
Have you ever thought as you picked up the phone how
many other people were doing the same thing that very
minute?
Well believe me you're not alone—you've got lots of
company Oklahoma people used their telephones 2400 time&
a minute last year
That's just for local calls Long Distance lines were busy
too as Oklahomans called out-of-town almost 30 Mi Marto
times in 1956
This was a record number of both local and Long Dis-
tance calls but it looks now as though 1957 will be an even
busier telephone year
What's behind the steady increase in the number of tele-
phone calls? For one thing thousands of new telephones are
added each year but there's more to it than that
Nowadays people seem to count on their telephone to do
more errands for them to help them keep up with the faster
paee of living and doing business
Personally I think it makes a lot of sense You can do
Just about everything faster and easier with the telephone
Convenience Is Here to Stay
All around the house every day we see convenience and
more convenience
Dad has his easy chair conveniently located next to his
favorite reading table Mother has a novel or her sewing
Lasket near her And the youngsters like to have a radio or
record player in their room
Maybe this is the tine to take another look at your tele-
phone service to make it more convenient for you and your
family
Why not have telephones where you want them when
you need them? We'll install additional phones wherever
they serve your family best—in kitchen bedroom or any room
In the house
The cost is low only $115 a month and a small one-time
installation charge Just call the telephone business ortez
