Paced by Jack Huffman who
conducted a scoring apre e of his
own the Southwestern Bulldog::
downed the East Central Tiger
at Ada last Friday 28 to 0 It
was an Oklahoma Collegiate con
ference victory and gave the Bull-
dogs an even break in two loop
games played to date
Southwestern's offense lune-
tioned well but the defenon wee
none too tight as East Central
made 15 first downe and gained
228 yards
The Bulldogs scored early Wil-
liams passed to Gardiner plac-
lng the ball on the 20-yard line
and on the next play Huffman
skirted end for a touchdown
That aerial combination Wil-
llama to Huffman was respon-
sible for the next two touch-
downs The first wax good for BO
yards and the second for 82
yards Williams and Huffman
added the extra pointe after
touchdown by plunging the line
Huffman again atartied the
Tigers for the fourth touchdown
when he hit off tackle and then
sped 38 yards to the goal line
The Ada crew 'cored In the
third period when the Tigere re
covered a Bulldog fumble on
Southwestern's 15-yard line A
five-yard penalty placed the ball
on the 10-yard line and a eerie::
of line plays netted the Tiger
touchdown
While the win wax more than
welcome since the Bulidoge failed
to win a conference fray in 1030
It wan a costly victory because
of an Injury to the hard-driving
Smitty Williams William crack-
ed lime rib on one of hio plunges
through the Ada line and will
likely be out of action this week

conference this week to meet the

Eaglets Take 13-0
Win From Cordell
The Weatherford Junior high
school Eaglets waded through a
muddy field for a 13 to 0 victory
over the Cordell Juniors and their
second straight win of the sea-
son at Cordell Friday afternoon
Confining their attack to gruel
ing line plunges and end plays
the Eaglets kept the opposing
squad backing pp moot of the
One
The Weatherford eleven took
the offensive at the beginning of
things receiving Cortleirs Initial
kick-off and 14 taging an unbroken
march down the field for their
first score Orville "Pooch" Burns
miniature halfback crossed the
line for the first counter with
Vitus Vandenberg fullbackplung-
log over for the extra point
In the second quarter the Eag-
lets plowed through to Cordell's
two-yard line but were balked by
a 15-yard penalty
Another scoring march in the
third quarter failed to reach com-
pletion betel the end of the
period but the opening of the
fourth found the hall on Cordell'
one-yard line where it was an
easy matter for Quarterback Bus-
ter Riney to finish the drive
The only long pass of the en-
tire game was a 80-yard toss
from Burns to LeRoy Severe in
the third The nights also com-
pleted a trio of laterals
Coach Dumpy Rice gave his re-
serves a chance at the mud-spat tered ball after the second touch-
down The loeal squad chalked up 12
first-and-ten gains to their op-
onent's two
The work of lloyd Ford Wayne
Ross and Roy Shipman wan a
big factor in keeping the Eaglet
line intact

SPORTOLOGY
By Jimmfo
This column wax written for
publication last week but failed
to make the grade The send
month expressed herein are still
the same NO we pass it along a
week later
After fleeing our Ilu Hoge go
last Friday night we Joined the
ranks of the disappointed but
withheld our final application for
entrance into the mournerx club
We maw enough fight out there
the other night to make that fire
of eternal hope burn brighter
than it hex for three seasons The
liulidogx are down but it Is
too early to start counting them
out
Southwestern could have won
the Baptist game The fact that
they did not goes In the rec
ord book but sometimes the
books fall to tell the complete
story For the most part it
seemed to me that Southwestern
looked pretty good even in do

s
If something does not happen
to the team spirit which Is bet-
ter right now than it was at any
time last year the Ituildogo
should win a fair share of their
conference games
This does not necessarily mean
that our club is us Oltrong as It
has been In other years but just
a good old hardfighting team
can win some games in the Okla-
homa Collegiate conference this
season
East Central has dropped two
games to Junior colleges—North-
eastern has fared about the same
—Southeastern has a bunch of
freshmen and a complete now
coaching staff — Northwestern
may be tougher than their first
two games indicate but they were
beaten WI to 0 by Wichita 171ast
week—Central will be tough for
conference foes as usual In other
words the conferenee competition
appears to be comparatively light
this season
Personally we can bear to see
the Bulldogs lose some games
as long as they make their op
position feel like they have
complished something when they
lick us
