Ill-Y and Tri-Hi-Y club mem-
bers in Del City and Midwest
City completed requirements this
week for participation in the
Annual Oklahoma Youth Legis-
lature April 1 2 and 3
A total of 29 delegates from
three Tinker area clubs were in
attendance at the Pre-legislative
conference held at the University
of Oklahoma last Saturday Each
club presented two bills for de-
bate and preliminary approval
Iii-Y members have been at
work on new legislation since the
year Each club has selected
their own bill subjects and
written the documents with the
aid of counselors who helped to
put the legislation in the proper
form Attorneys Vic Protr-tan
and John Garrett of Del City and
John Raley Jr from Midwest
City serve as counselors for the
clubs
Del City III-Y member John
Johnson was elected to serve as
Secretary of the Senate during
the three day Youth Legislature
and Rowena Prater Del City
Tri-Hi-Y member was elected to
serve as Senate Chaplin
Ili-Y and Tri-Hi-Y clubs are
YMCA organizations in the high
school There are three clubs in
the Del City-Midwest City area
Hi-Y is open to high school boys
with high scholarship ratings and
with an interest in Christian pur-
pose activities Tri-Iii-Y is for
high school girls
Adult advisors include Mrs
Ruth Hawkins and Vernon Ribera
serving at Del City and Mrs
Donna Spence serving at Midwest
City high school
A total of 191 high school stu-
dents are enrolled
