ECHOES FROM THE
VACATION CAMPS
Additional week end guests of Mr
and Mrs Pink Eskridge at Eskridge
Camp in the -Arbuckles were Mrs
Eskridge's sister Mrs Craig of Okla-
homa City also her niece and hus-
band Mr and Mrs Francis of Okla-
homa City who motored down to en-
joy the out door life and beauties of
nature there Misses Leo the Dickson
and Marguerite Felty and Max Ad-
ams were also guests
The nearly one hundred YMCA
boys from Oklahoma City who are
enjoying camp life at the Baptist
Assembly ground there put on an
impromptu program the night of the
Fourth which all the other campers
attended and enjoyed Forming a
circle around a huge bonfire they
sang songs gave recitations and told
jokes closing with a big display of
fireworks
The popular druggist from Elmore
and his wife Mr and Mrs W E
Dodge are occupying the camp house
they built last summer and Mr and
Mrs Frank Rol low of Davis are
staying in Mrs Abner's cottage
There are many campers living in the
open in true gypsy style
-
Those who have never taken long
hikes at the Baptist Assembly
grounds near Prices Falls do not
know of the wonders of nature hid-
den there High up in the moun-
tains a huge bowl has been hollowed
out of a rock bowl and springs of
ice cold water gushing from cre-
vices in the rocks keep it full of
water It has ba:1 erroneously
named the "Devil's Bath Tub" and
another place in the rock higher up
is called the "Devil's Soap Dish At
times the water flows over the reeks
about the bath tub It ripples over
the stones and in some places is
quite deep and anglers have often
been seen coming from there cal ry-
ing a long string of fish At pre-nt
trees and shrubbery are cut away
and a dam will be constructed and
excavations made for a good-sized
lake that will accommodate several
boats and add to the pleasureof the
many campers who come from all
over the state especially while the
Baptist Assembly is in session in
August
"Out where the moon is peeping
Thro' the leaves of black-jack trees
There's where the 'possums are hiding
'Neath the boughs and rustic leaves
Out where the quail are calling
They whistle loud and shrill
This is wild Oklahoma
The land of a thousand thrills"
This is truly the month of motor
immigration Colorada has called to
many of our people The Arch Rol-
low and Bruce Whitaker families are
now enjoying the cool mountain air

Federation
e-ro form a more perfect union” was the
I animating thought of the statesmen
who met to draft America's constitution
Their problem was to weld the sections
they represented into a political entity that
would function most efficiently and endur-
ingly in the service of the people
A similar problem was presented nearly a
century later to the organizers of America's
telephone service Licenses under the first
patents were being granted to isolated
companies that were forming to introduce
local service "A more perfect union" of
these companies seemed from the begin-
ning of the telephone's adoption by the
people to be essential and so the structure
of the Bell System was planned
This organization exists today substan-
tially as it was then conceived—a group
of companies each preserving its individ-
tont and applying local knowledge to
local needs but all federated into a single
'cohesive union in order that nation-wide
universal service may be provided
