eral difficult problems it now
appears the legislature will ad-
journ about July 7 By this
date they should be able to come
up with answers to the money
problems facing the state These
answers are the key to ad-
journment With the liquor control bill
for practical purposes out of the
way a proper estimate of the
total revenue the state will re-
ceive during the next two years
can be made On the basis of
this estimate the legislature and
the general conference commit-
tee on appropriations made up
of 15 holise members and 15
senators are now dividing up
the money for various state
agencies

been expressed because of the

governor come into office with
such broard and radical demands
for changes in existing laws All
of these demands had to be con-
sidered Of course some of them
were rejected and others accept

reason for the legislature in a
democracy
As has been mentioned pre-
viously the legislature has writ-

charities but the safest rule to
follow is to give only to causes
with which you are personally
acquainted or to your church
civic and fraternal group proj-

your own organization have in-

communities large and small
from close by and from points
surprisingly distant to persons
who aren't familiar with the
way today's collegians have

This summer for instance

McAlester Shawnee Elmore
City and Wynnewood Hastings
near Ardmore and from almost
every one of the closer towns
Seminole Wewoka and Coal-
gate have numerous students
making the daily drive
The East Central summer
commuters upward of 250 or al-
most one-fourth of the summer
student body And the graduate
students most of them school
administrators and teachers are
even more inclined to be at
home overnights for 108 of
them representing two-fifths of
Itheir group commute
And if you think that commut
ing's a simple matter of driving

whose first classes begin at 7

This summer's enrollment has
r shown two distinct trends
) Graduate study has increased
3 spurred in part by those taking
f counseling and guidance for

- freshmen beginning their college
