Bridal Shower Compliments
Miss Judy Johnson Friday
A group of hostesses from the Duke
and Centralvue communities honor-
ed Miss Judy Johnson with a bridal
shower Friday afternoon at 3 pm
at the Centralvue School Miss John-
son will be married June 23 to Allen
Gilliam in the Duke Church of Christ
The room was decorated in the
honoree's favorite colors of pink and
white with an arrangement of pink
carnations centering the refreshment
table and crystal candelabra holding
pink candles tied with pink bows
on each end the table was draped
with white with white ribbon strea-
mers around the edge caught up
with pink flowers The gilts from
more than Ion friends and relatives
were displayed on tables covered
with lace cloths over pink
Mrs A R Welch presided at the
punch bowl Miss Berna Dean Lass-
iter registered the guests This table
was covered with a cutIAork cloth
and the decoration for it 1'as a
miniature bride atop a -music box

Former residents of Mangum now
living in Oklahoma City and vicinity
will gather at Spring lake park Ok-
lahoma City at 6:30 pm Tu-?sday
June 28 for a picnic basket supper

The group of former Greer county
citizens held their first gathering on
July 19 1954 on the spacious grounds
of the Hugh Carroll residence in
northwest Oklahoma City Persistent
efforts and leadership in organizing
the first picnic is credited to Clar-
ence C "Champ" Clark a former
Mangum tailor and dry cleaner and
an inspector with the state dry clean-
ing board until his death last fall
Since 1954 the group has planned
the annual picnic which attracts an
increasing number of present and
former residents of the southwestern
state city to enjoy the fellowship of
