After a 10-day outing at Hot
Springs and the mountains of Ar-
kansas Mr and Hrs C H Wright
and Mr and Mrs W L Rabom re-
turned home Tuesday evening
They camped at Lake Hamilton
four miles from Rot Springs Ac-
cording to Rabom' Lake Hamilton
Is 24 miles long and a great body
of water It is a fine fishing loca-
tion -
The party went upon the United
States observatory on Hot Springs
Mountain- The observatory tower
made of steel is 165 feet high The
total altitude at the top of the ob-
servatory is 1650 feet
They attended the Arkansas Cen-
tennial at Little Rock and were in
Fine Bluff and many other towns
while on the trip and report an in-
teresting and worthwhile outing

Served Past 3 Years
as Commissioner
C (Cad) Turner is a native
son of Marshall County having
lived here for 43 years Though
young he takes the title of "pio-
neer" Practically his entire life has been
spent within the Commissioner's
District which he now has the hon-
or to represent He has lived
through the years when roads were
scarce and people went to town
"over the trails" He has passed
through those pioneer days when
roads were surveyed grades were
made and men built roads with
picks and spades and the ordinary
scraper
During the years he has tried in
his own way to recompense society
with the value of a good life and
assist in the building of churches
and schools adding to the sum to-
tal of good citizenship
Turner has lived in Madill since
1918 For the past threot years he
has served as Commissit vcr or 1Dis-
trict No 2 He apprecia's the con-
fidence the people have reposed in
him and has tried to serve them
well He has recently filed for re-
election for Commissioner of Dis-
trict No 2 and on the strength of
his past record asks that the people
investigate for themselves and if
found worthy asks their support
He promises that if re-elected he
will use the same business judg-
ment in the future in handling the
affairs of the district that he has
in the past and submits his name
to the Judgment of the voters on
this basis

First Game Thursday

DeMolays
The game of softball' has been
recognized by Madill fans and the
first game of the season was played
at the City Park Thursday after-
noon A large crowd of spectators was
present to see the DeMolays meet
the Masons in a game which was
victorious for the DeMolays by a
close score of 10-11
It is the plan for a game to be
played each Thursday afternoon
The public is cordially invited to
visit the park during the games and
enjoy the sport with the players

Mrs T G McClendon living five
miles north of Madill was a visitor
in The Record office Friday after-
noon She and her husband are
recognized as being among the first
farmers in this county to initiate
the dairy and poultry business in
connection with other farming ac-
tivities They are now milking a number
of cows and selling butter and
cream Mrs McClendon has raised
200 young turkeys this season A
few of them have died since they
have been turned on the range
Every year they have turkeys- to
market and 'with butter and cream
checks meeting the family expenses

have been visiting the past few days
in the home of their daughter and

Are Urged to Pay 1936 Dues
Money Needed for Salary of Care-Keeper
It Is Pointed Out
Time is at hand for the payment
of the 1936 membership dues by the
members of the Madill-Legion Cem-
etery Association Paul Watts pres-
ident advises
Every person who is a member of
this association Is urged by the Pres-
ident and other officers to attend to
the payment of the dues as quickly
as is possible in order that the
care-keeper may be retained
At this time the association is de-
linquent with the care-keeper's sal-
lary and his work is very necessary
for the upkeep of the cemetery This
organization was started in Madill

Morton's leg was caught in the

Two of the five Woodville men
arrested over the week-end for dis-
turbing peace were arraigned be-
fore H P Keller Justice of Peace
Monday afternoon
Their fines were lined at $1275
and the two men were returned to
jail to serve time

from Woodville arrested pleaded
guilty and made stay bonds for each

Splendid Message
Speaking to probably five hundred
people in Madill and a much larger
audience in Kingston Monday aft-
ernoon Josh Lee carried his cam-
paign into this county with the zest
and enthusiasm born of confidence
and hope in the final triumph of
what he conceives to be right In
the eyes of God and man
For 45 minutes at each place Lee
expounded the principles of his
platform gave an account of his
public service as Congressman from
the Fifth District cited the record
showing where he had kept the
faith (and theb promises he had
made to his constituents during his
tenure of office and then asked to
be promoted to the Senate where
he promises to give the best years
of his life in public service for his
fellowmen
He discussed his anti-war legis-
lation as to taking the profit out of
war the drafting of money with
men he told of the plight of labor
and the handicaps of agriculture
and discussed both these issues from
first-hand knowledge of conditions
Just as they are
Lee has that rare gift of per-
sonality combined with a flow of
language that holds his hearers In
rapt attention to every word that
falls from his lipe

BUILDING IN AYLESVVORTH
The Methodists are erecting a
church building in Aylesworth The
Methodist congregation at Caney
has been disbanded and the presid-
ing elder has awarded the Ay les-
worth congregation the building
It is being moved from Caney at
this time and In the course of a few
days Aylesworth will have a splen-
did church home

One young girl was killed and four
other persons injured one seriously
about 11 o'clock Tuesday morning
when their car crashed into a bridge
over Wolf Creek on the Ardmore-
Madill road

The party of four said to have
left Gainesville about 8 o'clock Mon-
day evening were travelling east at
a speed of 80 miles an hour and
unable to make the turn crashed

ported They had just left John-

driving All the occupants of the
car with exception of Cordell were
thrown from the car
Cordell was picked up on the
roadside by the four occupants of
the car and he was en route to his
home at Mill Creek

After a two weeks' vacation trip
to Saint Salmon Island and on the
Atlantic Coast Rudy Greer resumed
his duties at the Colby Grocery

died in a Durant hospital about 4
o'clock Saturday morning She was
taken to the hospital Thursday
Watts Funeral Home prepared the
body for burial and funeral services
were held at the Lark Cemetery at
4 o'clock Saturday George Henry
