In the 21st verse of the 7th chap-
ter cf Matthew there is this very
plain positive statement: "sot ev-
ery one that'sayeth unto me Lord
Lord shall enter into the kingdom
of huaven but he that doeth the
will cf my Father which is in heev-
en" The author of this statement
was Christ Jesus hence we know
that whatever is declared by it is
true and to be depended upon Let
us think for a moment about it
that we may learn its teaching We
see at once that it speaks about en-
tering into the kingdom of heaven
It tells plainly who will enter and
it tells the sad fact that some will
not enter We can itemize the les-
sen of this declaration as follows:
I Not everyone who calls upon
the Lord will enter the kingdom of
heaven
2 The individuals who do the
will of the Father in heaven will be
the ones who enter into the king-
dom of heaven
From Itenl NO 1 we are given to
understand then that there will be
individuals who really expect to en-
ter the kingdom of heaven but who
will nevertheless fail to entei Now
certainly the skeptic and the infi-
del do not expect to enter the king-
dom of heaven for they do not be-
lieve that there is such a place or
kingdom Neither does the wicked
man expect to enter the kingdom of
heaven for he acknowledges that
he expects to be turned into the
place of punishment Then who
lare they who expect to enter but
who will not be permitted to do so?
There is only one conclusion They
are individuals who are religious
who believe in Christi and call Him
Lord Lord In view of this fact we
can see now that it is not true that
"if a man is religious and does the
best he can" he will go to heaven
To be religious is not the thing that
will take people to heaven To be
sure irreligious men will not enter
the kingdom of heaven But nei-
ther will men enter Ly ason of
the fact that they arc it t 01s The
declaration of Jesus v a: now
studying plainly says so
Then who will enter the kingdom
of heaven? "He that DOETH the
will of my Father which is in
heaven" Friend for you just to be
religious is not enough for people
can be fanatically religious and still
not do the will of the Father in
heaven You must do the will of
God the Father if it becomes your
privilege to enter the kingdom of
heaven You may observe perfectly
the commandments and doctrines
of men but if you fail to do the will
of the Father you will fail to entei
the kingdom of heaven If you do
the will of the Father you need
have no fear of the future
