by sophomore and junior students interested in journalism at
Norman High School)
Talent Everywhere
Sophomores are beginning to show their strength around Norman
High now they're going to have an assembly all their own They
seem to have quiet a lot of talent cooped inside them and they just
have to let it out There will be approximately 20 sophomores in the
assembly Mrs K Maddox sophomore sponsor announced that the
assembly will be either the last of April or the first of May
Spring at Norman High
You'll find that spring
Brings many things
One thing that you can't forget
It seems as if it's always wet
Also there are baseball games
And graduating seniors with high aims
There are new spring clothes
From nose to toes
And a prom or date
And staying out late
Girls are practicing their pep and cheer
For football games will again be here
It's hard to work and study too
But teachers think it's the thing to do
The best thing is that helloes out soon
If we can only make it till It's June
Open war has been declared with Pat Hinshaw junior and editor
of Tiger Highlites by six irate sophomores The lead paragraph
written by Pat explaining that juniors had written the column per-
plexed these underclassmen In this small space we the sophomores
wish to let it be known that we write this column too
The time has come to bee how much Juniors have progressed
since last year The annual Spring Achievement Tests will be
suffered through next week by the Juniors and sophomores The
general idea seems to be "They make me feel so stupid!"
112000 paper napkins?"
The Trail staff is secretly setting the stage for the Trail Corona-
tion Friday April 22
How they are going to use 12000 paper napkins is anybody's
guess!
Ratio and Proportion
"X equals 9 no X makes 9 no! X oh drat!"
These are COMMOU expressions heard in Miss Jean Sugden's plane
geometry classes First and fifth hours have Just started work on
ratio and proportion and It seems that about 60 students are
beginning to drive each other mad Oh well! You only attend
high school once!
"A present from a teacher?" Well how about that!
Larry McDade the picture fiend received a present from Miss
Lucile Searcy The Trail Staff roared as they saw the present It was
a picture of a cameraman with a movie camera where his head
should be
ern v
Most MIS students found it hard to concentrate on school
all winter Now spring has hit and its impossible Instead
el studying (without too much intelligence) It's too easy to gaze
out the window or Just out into space The patio which used to be
deserted is now filled with people out soaking up sun during their
lunch time Even the teachers are finding it harder to con-
centrate entirely on things of scholastic nature Well anyway
we're glad its spring
The smoking lamp has been lighted in all authorized places
Officer Young now patrols the grounds looking for misplaced cigarette
butts Boys have been littering the school grounds and putting trash
cans on fire' with the flaming remains The boys were instructed
that anyone caught off limits with a cigarette will be sent home
limmtnmm?
Piling up the Zzzzz's Norman High students couldn't seem to
get used to the new sleeping hours after they returned from a
lengthy Easter vacation of four s bole days Oh well they'll
hear up there's may seven weeks until Freedom
Fads and Fashions
First spring clothes are being seen in the halls of Norman -
High Jewelry is part of the latest fashion because juniors have been
seen flashing their class rings in front of the underclassmen Some
new hair styles have been noticed on Sue Ann White sporting a new
redish-brown color and Jerry Huffman has been seen with no hair
at all so he takes the cake on the latest hair style Who knows !
this might become one of the latest fads?
The fashions and fads of the past year
Are recalled as graduation draws near
Sun glasses and sneaky tennis shoes
Usually kept the teachers in constant stews
"Tennie boots" as they are known
Were started by one person all alone
And then it grew and grew—
But now it's just a memory too
The victories of all our school teams
The excitement and announcement of our queens
Almost all of the memories are many and pleasant
And everyone graduating becomes a little reminiscent
"You'll never be able to relive your senior year"
Recalled a senior as graduation draws near
"Don't laugh" beamed Mr Middleton "Your ears v ould be red
too" Slowly but surely sunburns are becoming the latest tad around
tOWIL Mr Middleton wasn't red from embarrassment he was just
trying to be fashionable with his new sunburn
You donl have to go far to hear some very good "fish stories"
around MIS These great fisherman come back to school on Monday
all sunburned and sore with the biggest 'whoppers' ever told Joe
Moody is a perfect example of this great group of outdoorsmen Ile
excitedly told fellow students how he had caught enough catfish to
fill a three-foot stringer 'Wan were they beauties" he exclaimed
Sitting not far away La Donna Pierce who went along on his fishing
excursion told the real story—"True enough we had a stringer ful'
of fish but Joe caught only two of them one of which was about
this long (she rrntioned with her hands four inches apart) To Joe
and all the other fishermen our heartest congratulations
