Things are quiet on the East
- Central College campus today—at
least they are calmer after the
din of hundreds of high schoo mu-
sicians competing with voice horn
piano violin and drum for those
coveted 'superior' ratings that
send the winners on the elite state
finals -
As usual there were individuals
who showed outstanding ability
and promise In vocal and instru-
mental solo work and some of
- these with encouragement may
follow these special lines when
they go on into college
The bands came up to their
usual standards in their division
Its a refreshing sight — and
usually sound—for the outsider
And some of those who here for
the first time were uncertain and
even wobbly as stagefright dulled
their performances will be back
next year older more confident
and most of them will do much
better
-
Several Ada piano students and
one violin student will be in- Du-
rant March 29 for the Federation
of Junior Music Clubs part of the
National Music Festival
Piano pupils include Judy Bees-
- ley Helen Beesley Julian Cole
- Barbara Este Janice Keefer
Allen Earls Elizabeth Ann Earls
Susie Engle Judy Engle Mary
Rosanne Stout Nancy McClung
and Linda Campbell Danny Smith
will take part in the violin competi-
tion r "

' Again the Bison Glee Club of
Oklahoma Baptist U Shawnee
has been to- Ada and again it has
delighted a sizeable audience with
a sparkling f program of vocal
music
Friday night under the deft
c re tion of Dr Warren Angell the
widely known choral group sang
through an - impressive array of
classical religious music drew
smashing applause for seven sec-
ular numbers
The Bisonette Girls sextet sing-
ing with the men's club were a
hit with three cleverly sung num-
bers ranging from rollicking fun to
smooth barbershop harmony in the
traditional style
The final number of the regular
program which included 26 num-
bers by the club and the smaller
ensembles was a crashing rendi-
tion of Angell's'"Children of America--
using trumpets trombones
cymbal and snaredrum with the
chorus The insistant audience
brought the club back for two
more numbers before reluctantly
conceding that it was time—for the
final curtain
It had been a busy day for the
Bison Clubbers Friday morning
- they sang for 1300 Home Demon-
stration Cub women at a district
council at OBU: on the way to
Ada they sang for Seminole High
Then after being guests at a

WASHrNGTON L11 — Some old
soldiers especially Confederates
never fade away so far as the
National Archives are cdncerned
A L-House Appropriations sub-
committee was asked for $60000
to start microfilming cards which
contain the military service rec-
ords of Confederate veterans
'There bas been a great -demand
for such data from the
Southern states which did not get
this kind of -information from the
federal government after the Civil
War" US Archivist Wayne C
Grover told the subcommittee
He said once the cards were
filmed copies zooid be prepared
inexpensively for the 12 or 13
states interested and ultimately
the National Archives would have
fewer requests for information
