A Christmas dinner was served
the pupils Tuesday with turkey as
the main dish Mrs Dora East
the school cook served Christmas
cake to the pupils as her gift to
them Mr and Mrs Nance the
teachers furnished ice cream
After lunch a Christmas party
was held in each room and gifts
were exchanged among the pupils
and the teachers presented gifts
to each pupil
Visiting at school Tuesday were
Danny and Nancy Ruth Nance of
Cedar Rapids Iowa here visit-
ing their grandparents Mr and
Mrs J M Nance and Judy Mun-
crief who graduated from the
eighth grade at Oakman last year
On Tuesday night Dec 23 at
7:15 the pupils and teachers pre-
sented a very Interesting Christ-
mas program consisting of carols
readings and plays the last one
being the traditional Christmas
play of "The Christ Child and the
Manger Scene" which was very
good and enjoyed by a large
crowd
Immediately following the pro-
gram Santa arrived with gifts or
treats for all
Mr and Mrs Bobby Ray Nance
and Nancy Ruth Pamela Sue and
Danny of Cedar Rapids lovva ar-
rived Monday Dec 22 to spend
Christmas with his parents Mr
and Mrs J M Nance They were
to arrive much sooner but two
days before they planned to leave
Nancy Ruth broke out with meas-
les and delayed the trip three
days With good luck the meas-
les cleared up and the Nances
made it in time to be at the
Christmas tree for the children to
see Santa Claus Another son Mr
and Mrs Haskell Nance and
daughter Loree of Oklahoma City
rest of the Nances Mr and Mrs
Bobby Ray Nance and children
left for Oklahoma City Sunday to
spend the night with Haskell and
returned Monday to their home
at Cedar Rapids
Mr and Mrs J R Pender-
grass spent awhile Christmas Eve
night with their daughter and fam-
ily Mr and Mrs Dude Golden

The Pendergrasses had Christ-
mas dinner with their son John

Haynes of Stratford and enjoyed
a feast with three of her brothers

past and one yet coming up the
year of 1958 is nearing an end
It s up to each individual as to
whether its been a successful
year or not Did any of your New
Year resolutions hold out through
all of the 385 days? And have you
made new ones for 1959 yet?

The faculty and pupils of Byng
Hi will be greeting each other
Monday morning as usual after
a week's vacation
The Henderson families have
spent the greatPr part of this
week getting acquainted with their
new granddaughter niece and cous-
in Darla Jean Henderson who
was four months old the 26th be-
fore most of us got to see her
She is the small daughter of AM3
W E Henderson of the Naval
Base Memphis Tenn and his
wife
And I'll have to say that Santa
Claus couldn't have brought any-
thing that would give us more joy
than her nresencn with us through
the holidays She along with
her daduy and mother lett Christ-
mas morning for Hitchcock Okla
to visit her other grandparents
Mr and Mrs Alex Link and aunts
and uncles who haven't seen her
either So I know that "little bun-
dle of joy" was welcomed where-
ever she went

about Seminole to visit an aunt
Mrs Ruby McDaniel who had
just returned home from a hos-
pital in Oklahoma City and her
husband Walker McDaniel On ar-
riving they found the family hav-
ing their Christmas dinner so they
got to visit with their children
and grandchild also Coming back
to Seminole then they stopped in
and had supper with Mr and Mrs
Roy Henderson and Rickey form-
