Pickers to Work at Once Situa-
tion is Described as Acute
Oklahoma City Okla—Literally
thousands of acres of -blhowy white
cotton fields and not a picker at work
was the way W A' Murphy assistant
state labor commissioner -characterized
the condition in southern Oklahoma
Describing the situation as "acute"
Murphy sent a call to three surround-
lug states as well as making his ap-
peal through usual sources for 37500
cotton field- workers These are
needed to relieve the situation and are
wanted at owe -

as white workers while the addi-
tional 13550 requested may be ne-
groes Because the crop turned out

ficials of the federal and state labor

1050 are wanted at Hollis and 1000

BLIND SCHOOL HEAD DIES
Oscar Stewart of State Blind School
Found Dead in Bed at his Home
Muskogee Okla—Oscar W Stewart
superintendent since its founding of
the Oklahoma School for the blind
here committed suicide at Muskogee
Stewart shot himself at his residence
near the school He was a candidate
for congress two years ago and was
known throughout theination in blind
school circles He had tilled several
pastorates in Oklahoma and other
states before taking pp blind schotil
work Stewart was practically blind
Relatives found the pilot of the blind
school lying dead on a bed in his
home A gun was found near him
with one shell tired
Nervousness during ?he past few
weeks due to heavy duties In the
school coupled with ill health are at-
tributed by his family as the cause for
his mt Ile is survived by a wife
and two children Wilhelm 15 years
old and Virginia 17 years old his
father Jolla Stewart and two broth-
ers Otho Stewart of Dustin and Owen

of two years ago the Red Hill bridge
was among them and is now one of
the last to be built It is thought that
the present bridge will withstand a
