EDITOR'S NOTE: 1lrs i F Mose Zi of Mills Chapel tells in the
followng article how she made over her kifchen in the Bristow
chamber of commerce home improvement contest lIrs Blosch took
third prize in kitchen imnrivement for farm owners
By MRS L F BLOSCII
When I enrolleo in kitchen improvement my kiti hen was in a
sad tondition The plaster was just ready to fall 'rne woodwork and
equipment ncedci Half of one window was broken
out and a piece of beaver board served to keep out wind and rain
Nly linoleum had long ago wOrn out and had been taken out piece by
piece until 1 was ualking ii swmping and scrubbing the bare floor
Of course no one in particular was to blame—the depression hai held
us so long in its clutches that tiie kitchen had gotten into this con-
dition Now I did nut despiso my kitchen—no never—rather I loved it
am in my kitchen most Of the time and enjoy the work that
calls Inc theft many happy hour are spcnt in my kitchen I am never
ashatrad of it nor never Lii ! ol the work there but the poor old room
strely nee':ed to lie remoktilitt 1nd Iel)aitCd I Vilshed many times for
things to repair the reini but 'Imt knew 1 could not because of finan-'
cial eirounstances
nnrI
One dity at a doh meeting our nonie demonstration agent was
urging the vonicn to t moll in kitchen improvement Well I came home
between two fares I wanted to do so much to my kitchen I felt so
disapppint-d ovcr the holi affair that I did not tell my husband
about it for a few Cays I studied every day how I might improve my
kitchen I taisc eanaiiy onds to sell but that would not be enough
money to hill) much I siold a pair and put the mor eY away to make
a payment on My nnoirtan I tlErlight that xvould be the greatest help
But still I ‘‘omicred how 1 could manage for many other things
needed Tune passed still no money in sight for my kitchen One
nirnini I was in the garten gathering cueumters A strange car came
up the chive I knew my lumband was near so I worked on paying no
attention Soon I wic through with u(un)ber I hesitated to start
to the housi and meot this strange Man My husband and he wert
still talkilm Du: finally to my surprise they cam to meet me at the
garden gate

My husband introduced thi: stranger to me I was a little etn-
barrassel looking as I did just coming frOM the cucumber patch But

such a woman I aske:1 the man how many men would there be and
how much a meal Ile told in from 3 to G men I said I would try
thinking if I could not make it myself I in hire a woman to help
The foreman wrote me a check for $2945

Maybe know how happy I was and maybe you don't But

tima I had told my hush-and about the improvement work and he seem-

erything with a good ivory enamel My husband made my old wood
