LONDON Sept 9 UP) — France
and Great Britain answered German-Italian
refusal to take part in
a Mediterranean "anti-piracy" con-
ference today with new determina-
tion to use their warships to pievent
attacks on shipping
Roth the British and Frenca also
insisted that the conference in Sit-
zerland tomorrow would achieve re-
sults despite refusal of Fastist pow-
ers to take part
Even as the Fascist power's refusal
to parley the French navy ministry
ordered another destroyer division to
be ready to rush to the Wditerran-
can -
The German reply given to the
French and Brittish charges d'af-
fanes in Berlin was drafted in col-
laboration with II Duce
Italy's reply was three-pronged It
said:
I—The Fascist government at first
was inclined to accept the invitation
to the conference which is de3ignel
to find a way to stop "pirate" at-
tacks on the ships of many naten1
in the Mediterranean
2—But Soviet accusation that Ital-
ian submarines had torpedoed and
sunk two Soviet ships introduced
at the last moment a new and grave
element into the situation
3—The Fascist government hence
has come to the conclusion that the
atguments to be considered van Le
examined adequately by the inn-
int2rvention committee - in London
This 27 power committee set lip
month g ago in an attempt to kcp
foreign men and arms out of Spain
has had experience also in technical
and naval questions which renders
it perfectly adapted to facing the
prcblem indicated
