vanney of Sayre checked Donel-
eta's heart He mentioned that sly
was a good spechnan for heart sur-
gery and referred her to the Lang-
ston Medical Group in Oklahoma
City There she learned that the
average life expectancy for one in
her condition is only 40 years Her
heart began to flutter worse and
she was lacking in energy
From the Langston Medical
Group she learned that she had
coartation of the aorta The aorta

from the heart and sends it over
the body The aorta had one sec-

would be aging faster than a nor-
mal person's

surgery at University Hospital in
Oklahoma City on March 11 1957
Her doctors were Dr Carey and
Dr Boatman
Doneleta was in the operating
roo mfor 5!2 hours During this
time the small part of the aorta
was removed drawing the two
large ends together This made
possible a steady flow of blood
The next day her blood pressure
was normal
At the present time Doneleta
stated that her heart sounds as good
as a normal person's and she is
leading a normal life in every
way
Doneleta's advice to those fac-
ing a similar heart operation is to
"go ahead while you're young"
Before her operation the physician
explained to Doneleta that she had
