to get to Oklahoma City Saturday
where they were billed to broadcast
from Station KEW They went as
far as they could go and found that
waters were high and bridges were
out between them and the city so
that they had to give it up They
will fill the date later
Miss Opal Crump of Cleo and Mr
Cecil Maphet of near Meno were
married at Fairview Friday afternoon
of last week The bride is a daugh-
ter of Mr and Mrs C W Crump of
Cleo and the groom is a son of Mr
and Mrs J A Maphet of near Men°
They will make their home at the
home of the groom's parents where
Mr Mathet is engaged in farming
his father's farm Mr and Mrs
Manhet are planning on moving to
their land in the Rio Grande Valley
of Texas in the spring
Miss Freda Courter of Lahoma and
Mr Forrest Zirkle of Enid were mar-
ried Sunday of last week at the home
of the bride's parents F A Well-

Enid Defeats Lahoma
In the first of a three game series
Enid Oil Belt leaguers defeated La-
homa two to one at Enid Sunday of
last week
A Ford coupe and truck collided at
the henry Fry farm Sunday after-
noon The truck was badly damaged
while the coupe got off easier

at the home of Mr and Mrs Fred

of two cancers from his face

slowly improving following an oper-
ation for appendicitis at an Enid hos-
pital Mr and Mrs W S Hockenberry of
Enid attended the state fair at Okla-
homa City
Ethel Kayser daughter of Mr and
Mrs C F Kayser underwent a ton-
sil operation at Enid
Miss Ulala Swiggett has taken a
rosition with the Bake Rite Co in
Enid and started work last Monday

tle Burchfield Henry Kuhnemund and
family and Mrs T T Godfrey Mrs
C L Pugh and Miss Leta Wood at-
tended the Sunday School convention
at Drummond last Monday
To UTILIZE CITY PAVILION
The city commissioners plan to turn
the livestock pavilion on the east side
of convention hall into an amusement
place during the winter months
Mayor D D Stull said the object
is to utilize the immense building for
some purpose to get some revenue
from it
The plan now under way is to place
a skating rink in the south end of
the building and place other amuse-
ments in the north end such as in-
door baseball games croquet grounds
and perhaps an indoor miniature golf
course
Mr Edward Green left Monday
evening for Des Moines Iowa stop-
ping of at St Joe Mo for a few
days visit He will then continue his
journey to Des Moines where he ex-
pests to work this coining year

Cliff Harter of Helena line man
for the Oklahoma Gas & Eletcric Co
fell from a pole here Monday after-
noon while at work doing some wir-
ing His belt strap broke which caus-
ed him to fall He recovered from
the shock in a short time and was
able to resume his work He fell 12
or 15 feet striking on his back and
only escaped injury by good fortune
Fred Schmidt and family have
moved back to Meno from Goltry and
Schmidt is back at his old place as
mechanic at the Wedel service sta-
tion The K and B Garage has purchas-
ed the old barber shop building east
of the old hotel and it has been mov-
ed to just south of the garage where
it will be used for an office building
The ice cream social and carnival
riven by the Meno school was held
Monday night after being postponed
twice on account of bad weather The
attendance was good
John Buller returned home last week
from a trip to North Dakota and oth-
er northern states Jess McGee who
accompanied him on his trip is ex-
pected to return this week
Fred Schmidt's glass Pe broke one
day last week cutting the eye socket
and causing considerable pain and in-
convenience The small son of Mr and Mrs Dan
Johnson had an arm broken recently
but is getting along nicely
A very large crowd attended the
Sunday School convention here last
Sunday An all day meeting was
held with a basket dinner at noon
The children of Mr and Mrs Jac-
ob P Unruh have been ill with scar-
let fever

in a very critical condition
