THE ENID EVENTS EN!!) OKLA THURSDAY JULY 22 1926
Announcement of
E R HUGHES
(Republican)
For
CORPORATION
COMMISSIONER
IIn announcing my candidacy for
nomination to the office of Corpora-
phenson tion Commissioner subject to the ac-
I week- ! tion of the Republican voters at the
!!)arents tAugust primary I desire only to call
Ponca attention to my record in the past 512
I years as one of the officials of that
-- 1 important arm of State government I
can say with pardonable pride that
1
my official and private conduct have
' won approval of all citizens who have
been able to take time to consider
them As a Republican I have served
through a most turbulent period in
the history of the State and the dis-
turbances which have beset Demo-
cratic officials have not changed my
tactics in trying to keep the office of
the Commission at the highest pos-
sible stage of efficiency
! In asking the Republican voters of
the State to give me their support at
the August primary I am making no
unusual request inasmuch as it is the
rgeneral custom in this state to give
one who has served the public con-
scientiously a second term I assure
all republican voters that in the event
' of their again making me their can-
didate for this office that I will en
deavor to win success at the Novem-
ber election
I know the various duties of the
Corporation Commission and the fact
that although there has always been
two democratic members on the board
during my incumbency yet I served
one year as chairman speaks of the
esteem members of an opposite party
have for my integrity and efficiency
E R HUGHES
Corporation Commissioner
