Total loans and investments of
member banks of the Federal Re-
serve system in 101 cities of the
nation declined 63000000 during
the week ended April 14 as com-
pared with the previous week ac-
cording to the condition statement
of the system There was a de-
cline of 12000000 in loans to
brokers and dealers in cities out-
side of New York while New York
registered a decline of $5000000
Loans on real estate were $3-
000000 lower than in the previous
week and loans to banks fell $4-
000000
The report shows holdings of
S Government direct obligations
were 63000000 lower than the
preceding period while obligations
fully guaranteed by the U S Gov-
ernment declined $6000000
Demand deposits were 89000-
000 higher but time deposits fell
$11000000
