A record punt by Guymon quarter-
back Ronald Longbrake was the out-
standing play for the Tigers Stand-
ing 10 yards behind his own end
zone Longbrake booted the ball
some 15 yards into the air The
howling 30 mph gale caught the
pigskin and carried it into and over
Alva's end zone and only a bank
kept it from becoming a lost ball

with Southeastern for the Oklaho-
ma Collegiate conference football
crown last year today held undivid-
ed possession of the 1949 champion-
ship The Broncos of Edmond won the
title by blanking Northeastern 26-
0 at Tahlequah yesterday -
The win was the fifth consecutive
conference victory for the Broncs
and it threw Northeastern into a tie
for the cellar spot shared by Southwestern
Southwestern won yesterday but
didn't improve its conference posi-
tion The Weatherford crew delight-
ed a home crowd by overwhelming
Sterling College of Kansas 52-6
East Central of Ada lost a chance
to ga into a second place tie with
Southeastern of Durant when it lost
14-6 to the Northwestern Rangers of
Alva Northwestern slipped into
fourth place by its successful inva-
sion of Ada

all season with a Collegiate conference triumph 14 to 6
over East Central State s 'wets at Acta Frioay The vic-
tory was the Rangers' second in conference play this season
and ended the current gridiron campaign for Coach Dick

of the Rangers moving to within
inches of Northwestern's goalline
but the stubborn Ranger forward

Tackle Melvin Littlefield raised
up and intercepted an East Central :
pass turned the tide in midfield
and vetter turned and handed off

raced over the graalline for the
