WASHINGTON NEA v--Look
T for President Eisenhower

Ike broke the precedent to

It's believed that he has a tall

Kennedy has a handsome

At any rate the American
hat industry has been willing
for sometime to outfit both men
with new toppers if for no
other reason than to dim the
image of a hatless Kennedy

pLANE crashes seem to run in aerie& This has
A seemed true several times in recent Years and
again this week -
There were 140 killed when two 'planes col-
lided yesterday Today there were some 40 more
—terrible tragedies that mar the Christmas sea-
son of 1960 -
Confirmation Delay Could Be Harmful
POSTMASTER General was the last remaining
A post in President-Elect John Kennedy's cab-
inet The cabinet soon will be ready to function
' Republican members of the US Senate are'
talking about giving the Democrat?' trouble in the
process of confirmation of the appointees especial-
ly the president-elect's brother Robert Kennedy
' However lgoleting back at the cabinet appoint-
ments there seems to be something unusually
commendable to take note of There were many
pupporters (along with much presaure)1 urging
the naming of Adlai Stevenson 118 secretary of
state But Kennedy paid no attention Jo the
rpressure
A Republican was named to a high post in
the Kennedy administration in an effort to show
unity of the federal government Kennedy has
moved slowly in his selection of cabinet members
It sounds as if careful study of the posts was made
by him Even the Republican newspaper "The
Tulsa Tribune" says that early Kennedy appoint-
ments were "not at all bad" -
Yet there are GOP senators who will furnish
trouble over the appointments A ' delay in con-
firmation of cabinet members will also serve in
delaying i smooth-operating government It will
be to the best purposes of all concerned and to
rational security for the elecloral college and the
Senate to get the new administration operating'
as soon as possible
