The Soil Conservation District and
the Work Unit are proud of the soil
conservation accomplishments for
1960 At the beginning of the year
realistic goals were set up in the
Annual Plan of Operations and in
most --activities the goals were
reached or exceeded
The goals set up for 1961 exceed
the goals set up in 1960 on most
of the activities
The increase of activities are
mostly in the field of farm planning
which includes new basic plans
progression of non-basic plans to
basic and revision of old basic
plans In the conservation practices
the goals are greater for conserva-
tion cropping systems controur
farming crop residue use stubble
mulch tillage proper use of pasture
Diversion terraces and terracing
With the continued cooperation of
the Soil Conservation oBard of Sup-
ervisors the Soil Conservation Ser-
vice personnel contractors farm-
ers and the other agricultural agen-
cies we feel that we can reach our
goals on conservation in the Woods

Spanish speaking country in the
world Light is shining through by
the preaching of the gospel into
many of its cities and villages As
many hungry hearts struggle be-
tween truth and error God has been
able to reveal Himself to them in
wonderful pardoning power All
their precious images are burned
and with transformed lives they
serve the Lord with the same zeal
they had formerly shown the Ro-

Is the last stronghold of the free
Chinese people
But they who are there with the
Gospel of Jesus Christ are even
more keenly aware that they too are
in a warfare a warfare not
against governments not against
flesh and blood but "against prin-
cipalities against powers against
the rulers of darkness in this world
against spiritual wickedness in high
places" It's certainly no game —
but a battle against the foe of God
himself Their weapons are ' the
Sword of the Spirit the love of God
faithful prayers and the willingness
to be expendable for the kingdom
of God's sake
The day President Eisenhower flew
out of Tiawan to continue his Far
East Tour Red Chinese Conuntm-
ists fired 175000 rounds against the
tiny islands of Quemoy and Matsu
Our Missionaries visited Quemoy
the next day and witnessed the ter-
rible effects of this reckless cold-
blooded shelling of innocent civil-
ians A small church public schools
and hospitals were damaged leav-
ing many children homeless with-
out parents or anyone to care for
them
From village to village they
bumped along in a jeep comstantly
in sight of the mountains of main-
land China seeing scarred areas of
previous bombings and many brave
people living in caves and little
shelters they had built But most
of all they saw the 100000 people
of Quuemoy who have no knowledge
of Jesus and his love
One church that was shelled de-
liberately on Sunday morning while
people were worshipping inside was

With the present desperate plight
of the entire world we have as one
of our objectives for 1961—To pray
one unbroken hour each Saturday
night Jesus said'' 'could ye not
