Wheat Pasture
Looking Up
Wheat pasture is beginning n to
show up since the cold covering of
snow that fell during January has
been melted by the warm sun that
was out much of last week
However real wheat pasture is not
expected for several days depend-
ing upon weather conditions With
more days of sunshine and warm
nights wheat pasture will rapidly
develop and will help out the feed
bill considerably

Freedom Call
Freedom Oklahoma
Dear Call:
It is with considerable interest
that I have observed all northwest
Woods County the past several
years The sturdy stock of fpeople
who settled here were tops They
have survived and thrived through
all the ups and downs that all
frontiers have
Let us examine their record It
tells the story The ehildern and
grandchildren of these pioneers
have learned to wort whkh is a
blessing to any community They do
not show the deterioration so pre-
valent where children are raised
with a silver spoon in their mouth !
In this distinctly rural section the
children are needed They are
wanted and an asset to the corn-
inanity The record shows that this neigh-
borhood centering around Freedom
has put on the finest rodoes in
northwest Oklahoma for years with-
out using Sunday They have main-
tained a fully accredited high school
of hard working students These
students have excelled as they meet
in competition other schools
Scholastically they are excellent
physically they are tops ā best in
Oklahoma in football Class C to
say nothing about looks and good
manners
This territory is blessed with six
ministers of the gospel and no one
has ever accused any of them be-
ing there for what money they
make Without their work all these
good things we have said would
have to be retracted All the suc-
cess here centers in the spiritual
!uplift given it through these minis-
ters of the gospel
Among the many things these
preachers have done is to promote
an old o fashioned singing convention
which meets once a month at the
different churches to ' sing gospel
songs This does a lot to cause peo-
ple to work in unison and love one
another Worshipping together with
a song in their hearts helps them
to walk the narrow path together
so that when they reach the other
side of life they will not be sur-
prised or stiangers Gospel songs
in anyone's life emichens it It en-
richens a family home or a coin-
mtmity There was once a sign on a high-
way approaching a small town
Which read population 1000 ā9 88
boosters and 12 others There sing-
ing conventions are unique They
add more boosters Song worship is
as old as the Bible Sometimes dif-
ferent denominations cross up har-
mony and make for static! so any-
time this form of orship offers it-
self to a whole community like Free-
dom they are passing up an excell-
ent opportunity for harmonious liv-
ing unless they support it dhole-
heartedly It is true many small towns the
size of Freedom has grass growing
in their streets the last few years
but not so with Freedom The sur-
rounding territory needs Freedom
and Freedom needs it She has been
instrumental in building good roads
establishing a state park at Bat
Caves getting REA to every home
and now a project is in the making
to have good dial telephones in-
stalled everywhere
Yes the city and country both
need this spiritual uplift with this
singing convention to maintain the
previous unity and' again put Free-
dom on the state map as an Okla-
homa Lindsborg This community
needs this type of singing to com-
bat a lot of this canned music on'
the market Encourage your chil-
dren to take part
