Receipts at the Chicago live-
stock yards continue moderate
according to a report received by
C V Cresap of Vinita commission
dealer Creeap's report is based on
the semi-weekly livestock market
report as of Thursday August 14
The receipt totalled a few hun-
dred head over the preceding week
and around 1000 head below one
year ago '
The local receipts were more
evenly distributed through the
week than has been the case for
the past two weeks Consist of the

of these steers of Nebraska and
Woyming origin Prime grade ac-
counted for a slightly greater per-
cent of the slaughter steer supply
being increased over the 7 percent
of last week Choice continued to
predominate in the steer supply
accounting for around 65 percent
with the remainder largely good
grade Standard steer s were very
scarce Careen steer and heifer
beef sold steady to $100 higher
at Chicago 'with choice grade at
the full advance' The moderate
advance in dreased pricee plus un-
changed retelpta lent a bullish
Influence to this -'week's trading

close 75c-$175 lower than at last
weekend Weights under 200 lbs
were off most while averages over
233 lbs showed least decline Sow
prices are 25-50c lower for four
days The decline was attributed
mainly to increased receipts a-
round the circuit particularly of
new crop 180-210 lb weights and
consistently weak to lower whole-
sale pork prices Twelve market
receipts of 247000 for four days
were largest for any week since
the first week in June and everal
major pork cuts declined from
$100 to as much as $300 in the
wholesale meat trade Pork loin
prices today are lowest since
February 17 Today a few select
lots of No 1 200-220 lb butchers
brought the top of $2250 and the
average cost of all barrows and
gilts was estimated below $2200
both prices lowest in more than
three months The week's price
changes left butchers 230 lbs up
at the upper end of the price
ranges Prices of light-weight
sows have been relatively high and
frequently these sows sold as high
or higher than many lots of
butchers under 210 lbs
A few select lots of US No 1
200-220 lb butchers sold today at
2225-2240 with approximately 75

1925-2025 most 300-375 lbs
2050-2150 and a few up to 550
