M E CHURCH NOTES
BY MKS J A It Sit VON
—
We were not at all surprised
to find a few less th:m usual in
our services last Sunday for
we had all tired ourselves out
having a good time with the vis-
itors who came to the tourna-
ment and the weather was not
promising either The tourna-
ment is over and we hope for
fine weather and a large attend-
ance next Sunday
At the mornin g service the
subject Will be "Thy Will Be
Done" and at night the text will
be "In the Beginning God"
There will be special music at
the morning service and at night
:Nit Lee Miller will sing "In the
Beginning God" We hope the
students in both the college and
high school will hear both the
sermon and the solo
We are looking forward to the
Easter season as a time of spir-
itual refreshing and gathering
of folks into the Christian life
and the church To accomplish
this without a series of evangel-
istic services requires the closest
and most hearty co-operation of
all our forces and that we may
plan for this work there will be
a special meeting of all the offi-
cers and teachers of the Sunday
School and the officers of the
Epworth League groups next
Wednesday evening at the
Prayer Meeting hour 7:30 We
hope every one of these persons
suggested will be present
Dr Fleming the District Sup
erintendent was here Monday
night and held a call meeting of
the Quarterly Conference At
this time another location was
chosen for the new church—this
decision is definite and the loca-
tion purchased was the home of
Earle Flesher on East Hurd St
Mr and Mrs Kinsey and Mrs
Meyers sang at the morning
service last Sunday and the male
quartet composed of Messrs
Delbridge Sutton Gregory and
Himes sang at night Both
numbers were very much en-
joyed Circle No 1 of the Aid Society
served the Lettermen's banquet
at the Presbyterian Church last
Friday evening
Circle No 2 of the Aid Society
is entertaining with two parties
at the home of Mrs Weisenbach
Thursday evening and night
The children in the primary
department of the Sunday
School take great pride in filling
their jewel box This fund will
be used for equipment in the
new church !
FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH
J Weide' Runyan rnator
A few of the folks declared for
a vacation Sunday and were en-
couraged somewhat by the in-
clement weather The Sunday
school dropped about twenty-five
in attendance Those who were
present enjoyed some good ser-
vices Rev Scott brought a very
helpful message to the evening
audience
Two folks from Pleasant Val-
' ley were baptised Sunday after-
noon which makes a total of
seven to become members of the
Edmond church from this neigh
borhood The meeting being held
there by the pastor of the Ed-
mond church is now one week
old It will continue throughout
this week
New music has been received
for the newly-organized ladies
chorus and their singing of it
will be an appreciated feature of
future services
During the basket ball tourna-
ment the ladies of the Aid serv-
ed upwards of 1000 meals More
than three hundred were served
at one of the noon-day meals
The folks who met in the four-
county conference last week had
some very interesting sessions
Mrs Georgia McKinney of Enid
and Mr Holder returned miss-
ionary from Africa were the
principal leaders
The leadership of the church-
es is expecting a big increase in
attendance as spring advances
Every person in Edmond should
take some part in the work of
some church
All you need to do 14 to call
571-NI to have fresh butter but-
tr mik sour milk cream de
livered to you at any time tf
