Pilots Work For Party
A1Imnmn
Everything frir the party No
individual favors
Those are the principal objects
of Maynard Cornelius chairman
and Mrs Carolyn Braine vice-
chairman who declared their
stand Sunday following their
election as leaders of the demo-
cratic county machine Saturday
Both denied they are affiliated
with the Ku Klux Klan in any
way
"My personal preferences will
be put on the shelf" Cornelius
declared "The party and not
the individual will be featured"
"I am partisan only in as much
as I am a demount" Mrs Brake
said "Inside of the party or-
ganization I am strictly non-
partisan No one candidate will
get my support in the primaries
as I expect to devote my ener-
gies to the good of the party"
Mrs Braine declared she was
not connected with the klan in
any way "I am not a klanswo-
man never have been and never
expect to be" she said She at-
tributed her election to the fact
many of her Masonic friends as
well as known klansmen voted
for her
Mrs Braine has been promi
nent as president of 13eauceant
social organization of wife of
Knights Templar which she or-
ganized in 1921 She never has
held a political office of any kind
before although she has been in-
terested in working with the
women of the democratic party
for some time
She is a member of the Moth-
erhood Culture club and is a
Daughter of the American Revo-
lution and a Ddughter of the
Confederacy She was born in
Indian Territory and is a member
of the Episcopal church
Cornelius is an auditor Ile
has been interested in politics
since he came to Oklahoma City
25 years ago Ile was elected an
Oklahoma county clerk in 1912
serving immediately after the
consolidation of the clerk's office
with that of the registrar of
deeds Ile is a member of the
Second Presbyterian church and

Presbyterian Sunday
School Notes
Total attendance 142
Total offering $807
In spite of the fact that it
snowed all morning none except
possibly a few very old persons
made an excuse to stay away
from Sunday school Mr Frisby
superintended like an old hand at
the work lie should be graded
almost if not quite a hundred
per cent on the way he handled
the school While Mrs Fordyce's
class again made a good showing
Mr Ray's class came out ahead
in attendance with twenty pres-
ent The men's Bible class again
had the largest collection $130
While the young ladies choir
did very well for the opening
songs they were entirely out-
ranked by the boys of Mr Fink's
class who sang two special num-
bers at the close of the Sunday
school It means much to a Sun
day school when they have such
a number of young men who
not only sing about "The Old
Rugged Cross" but are also w ill
ing to shoulder it
At the close of the hour the
pins for perfect attendance last
year were awarded
Tree Pruning Time
Here Donart Says
free pruning should be done
now C R Donart county agent
warned Monday
"Fruit trees shade trees and
ornamental shrubs should be
pruned immediately before the
sap starts to rise" Donart said
"Blackberry patch grape vines
and other vines and clinging
plants also should be cleaned up
while they still are dormant"
A dormant spray should be used
on orchards and ornamental trees
at this time for better results
during the coming growing sea
son the county agent said
"There is considerable scale on
fruit trees in the county which
should be fought by emulsified
oil sprays applied within the
next few weeks" Donart said
"Lime-sulphur sprays also will
serve as a good scale spray and
in addition act as a fungicide
for various other fungi diseases
now dormant but which will at
tack trees this spring"
