For your information:
The Central Trades and Labor
Council whose support I
received is composed of 40 or
more AFL-CIO unions in
which the Teamsters with less
than 2000 members has one
vote There are more than 40-
000 union men and women in
this city Most of them believe
with me that Dave Beck and
the Teamsters have done much
to betray the cause of union
labor and should be purged
0 Once more may I say I
would never approve bargain

of government where a power
to strike might be used against
the public health safety and

There's a mill interest in
Oklahoma Citv's local elec-

River there's a dilly coining
up on the same day
Texas is going to nominate a
United States senator
Normally that isn't a nation-
shocking affair hut look what
could happen in this one:
It could dump 15 Demo-
cratic senate committee chair-
men tf5 It could put the GOP in
control of the upper hoi!se of
the congress
O It could affect material-
ly the entire national legisla-
tive program
It could end Lyndon
Johnson's leadership
O It might result in a
showdown between Ike Re-
publicans and the Old Guird
If Texas elects a Republican
a chain reaction will be launch-
ed and where it will end your
guess is as good as ours
Presently there are 43 Demo-
crats 47 Republicans and one
vacancy in the senate Send a
Republican in from Texas the
cut is 43-43 and Nixon GOP
veep casts the deciding vote
Normally talk of Texas send-

Harrison Comments on Slander
o This is written after the primary March 19 It
does not take a brilliant mind to conclude that the
unfair campaign of The Oklahoman and Times had
considerable effect It is impossible for any small
individual to ccmpete successfully with a vast 24 hour
daily newspaper organization which blankets the city
with one man's opinions and fears
0 By coincidence I was in the Pacific Northwest
three years ago when the Dave Beck thing was a
public stench I wrote home for publicat4on that I
wanted no part in that type of gang government My
ideas have not changed I do not consider that a union
has a right to strike against government I do not
think the Tearmters' Union or any other union should
be a bargaining agent with government on any level
on wages or working conditions with strike duress a
factor where the public health convenience or safety
is concerned I will not vote to put any branch of gov-
ernment in the hands of any union with strike power
There is no such menace here For those who are fear-
ful of the future I make this unequivocal statement as
clearly as definitely and decisively as is within my
poNAer with a limited knowledge of the English
language
