Oklahoma's Forests Backbone
Of $50 Million A Year Industry
: "Oklahoma's forests and timber-
lands are providing the raw ma-
iterials for wood-using industries!
1 that add nearly $50 million an
nually to the state's incom e"
1 Jack M Cornelius Jr president
1state board of agriculture said
!today
In addition to the value of for-

lumber each year:' Cornelius de-
clared "This is enough material
to build over 10000 five-room
houses" he added
Don Stauffer director of the
board's forestry division pointed
out that wood is made into over
10000 different product s and
many of these products are made
right here in Oklahoma
Among forest specialty products
made in Oklahoma are pulp wood
for paper and boxboard 24 million
fence posts between 400-500000
railroad ties and about 3000 tons
of charcoal
In addition to these products
about 500000 cords of woods are
consumed for fuel Besides this
