Bermudagrass continues to gain
in popularity in McCurtain county
According to the SCS it’s still the
best base grass on well drained
soils
During the past 20 years over
30000 acres have been planted in
the county Most of this was sod-
ded from the common strain Re-
cent years improved varieties have
become popular
The reasons are catching Hy-
brid bermuda is more vigorous
and furnishes more forage Hybrid
bermuda is also more nutritious
than common kinds pound for
pound
Producers of Coastal report a
third more hay per acre than com-
mon under like treatment Why
use a boy when a man is avail
able?
