Head Warns of
School Opening
Beginning next week an esti-
mated 540000 Oklahoma school
children will start trooping back
to class Many schools in smaller
towns and rural areas will open
their doors between August 26

Last year 72 school-age children
were killed and 1953 others were
Injured in Oklahoma traffic &mi

figures during the current year
all of us must cooperate in a real
effort
"It isn't necessary to spend mil

serum to lessen the traffic den

can be measurably improved by a
real effort on the part of parents
drivers and the children them

problem Parents must take time
to Instruct their children In safe
walking and safe playing Drivers
must always be on the lookout for
children and be driving slowly
enough to stop In time And third
children must obey the rules they
learn at home and in school" be
said -
He pointed Out that even with
instructions in safety children
sometbnas get excited and forget
what they have been taught In
the last analysis the motorist has
the last chance to save the child's
