charges may be made against me
should be made In the open and ( call
upon the people now to make the op-
position fight fair Do not permit
gum-shoe falsehoods as have been
practiced for the last few months
Make them make tbelr charges In the
open and In time for me to answer and

"The dally press have not generally
treated me fairly particularly the met-
ropolitan press They have gjven me
a character foreign to my convictions
Impulses or motives Not a single
member of this latter class In the
state has been as fair to me during
my public career as the Morning News
of Dallas Texas
“In due time I shall In a completed
speech discuss the questions which I
conceive to be Important and which
will likely arise In the campaign giv-
ing my position and the reasons there-
for I shall visit every county In the
state with a view of giving those rea-
son! to the people
“My record upon all state questions
Is more fully known than any other
candidate's and certainly as fully
known as any other person’s As a
member of the constitutional conven-
tion though president I voted upon
every question except during my ab-
sence of one day due to sickness and
aa member of the first legislature
though speaker was present every roll
call and voted uion every question
coming before that body This record
will be fotitfd In the printed Journals
of those two bodies The public mar
not have agreed with me In all mv
public career— and it would have been
strange If they did — but no man can
ever have charged me with having
shifted or shirked a single responsi-
bility “In all my public career I have tried
t® merit and obtain the confidence and
approval of the people but above all
the approval of one man whose oon®-
dence and conscientious approval ob-
tained satisfied me — and that man’s
name 1b Bill Murray j have had but
little controversy with the great mid-
dle class particularly that portion of
them known aa the farmer and skilled
labor but have had some difference
on detail with certain self-styled labor
leaders and upon prindnle with rep-
resentatives of canltal although I have
tried to be and am now the friend of
all legitimate capital and honest labor
but have never been and will never be
the fool or tool of the fools or tools of
either
Expects a Fight
“Do I exneet to be foueht? Yes-
with all of the abuse and slander that
can be printed by a corporate press
backed by all of the power that monev
can furnish hounded bv a debased
gang of politicians with all of their
cunning knaverv and insidious vil-
lainy In many respects It will b
such a campaign as characterized the
race of the Immortal Jim Hogg Jus
h® won n Texas shall I also win in
Oklahoma by the support generally
of the great middle class which ar-
my s right flank will be composed of
the boys who vote who feed the
world who clothe the world who have
won all battles of the world and who
on every occasion have proven the
stalwart preservers of the republic
They will nominate and elect me de-
spite the opposition or villainy that
mav come from the politicians of both
political partlee and when nominated
and elected I shall serve them If God
preserves me the strength to do It
I beg to remain

to the State legislature For
some time many citizens of the
county have urged Mr Milburn
to become a candidate for thia-

sented It is important that the
county have a straight forward
business man to represent its
interests in the legislature and
if the people chose Mr Milbnrn '
for the position he claims tnat :
will be his aim In a letter be
sjys: “If elected I shall vigor-

tailing unnecessary expense upon
the people of the State and coun-
ty and shall exert my best ef-
forts to see that good sensible
business methods are adopted' by
