FRIDAY MORNING APRIL 6 1906
Don’t got unduly alarmed All
the coal raiuei'8 have not quit work
Those in Lenvensworth pen are
still 1 -egging awav-
Possibly we owe thanks to the
influence of the hot municipal
election in Kansas City for the
warm summer-like days we have
been enjoying of late
Some of our “friends” seem to
be sore over the election What’s
the use? If it hadn’t been for
them we would have a nice
straight Democratic administra-
tion Well the election is over and
if anyone said anything or did
anything that you didn’t like
forgive hint on the ground that
everything is fair in love and
war
The ‘‘Big Stick” and the big
Cannon seem to be a souree of
great dread and uneasiness over
ill Washington and the weak-kneed
congressmen are shivering and
whimpering around like towheaded
kids nt an Irish jamboree-
There will be something doing
ia Wilburton the coming year—
the new city administration will
look well to our interests and se-
cure whatever enterprises that
can be gotton There is already
some talk of a new depot and a
powder factory We need a good
stone or brick hotel a good steam
launch y a brick plant and an oil
well Let’s go after them
She Election
-The election has come and
gone and everybody is getting
down to business again While
the Democrats are elated over
their victory and justly so yet
the best of feeling pervails and
the general prediction is that we
will It a vc a good progressive
city administration this year
Wilburton is in good shape and
as soon as the mines start up
will experience an era of progress
and prosperity Let every one
put his shoulder to the wheel and
keep the thing along The
Nicwsis in the front rank in this
and wiil do all i t can
Monday was a big day in Wil-
burton Kight-hour Labor Day
was celebrated in a grand and
royal manner with a parade over
half a mile long headed by Moy-
er’s band A number of address-
es were delivered at the Opera
House during the day and at
night All the orders ami organi-
zations of Wilburton and sur-
rounding territory were in line
but harmony and good will pre-
vailed everywhere among the
men

Advice About Marriage
A Kansas City pastor devoted
his sermon last Sunday to advice
to young girls about marriage
lie epitomized it in the following
series of don'ts
Don’t be forward: if you deserve
a husband he will find you with-
out any effort on your part
Don’t marry a loud dresser
Don’t marry a young man who
gives you costly presents
Don’t marry a lazy man
Don’t marry a man disrespect-
ful to his mother
Don’t marry a tippler
That pastor cqn gi ye sensible
advice but lie doesn’t know human
nature of the most susceptible —
usuallyspoken of as the marrying
age If he had he wouldnrt
have made use of his don'ts
When you say don't to a young
man or woman bent on marrying
you only hasten the wedding
If the pastor had only said
“don t marry’’ he would be reap-
ing a steady income from the
young people who wanted to
prove to him he didn’t know
what he was talking about
