Inspectors Check
Service Stations
WASHINGTON (AP) - Government
inspectors are looking for service sta-
tions that fail to post federal ceiling
prices of gasoline on the pumps as
required by law.
The Department of Energy said
Wednesday it is making the inspec-
tions because spot checks earlier this
summer found that three out of every
four stations visited failed to post
ceiling prices.

We realize that if you don’t really know CURTIS JEFFREYS, you cannot do so by simply reading
this letter, but the man that we put in office this election year can make the next four years pass very
quickly or very slowly. We sincerely hope that when you go to the voting polls, August 22nd, that
you will really know at least this much about the background and qualifications of the candidate of
your choice.
We think that we do and we would
like to share our opinion of him
for your consideration.

CURTIS JEFFREYS isn't a perfect man. He will admit that he has made many mistakes in his life-
time just as we have. He will tell you that he will continue to make mistakes just as we will, but we
can assure you that CURTIS JEFFREYS does possess the God given gift of a conscience that determines
right from wrong, and a tender, affectionate heart that will not allow his conscience to be disobeyed.
CURTIS JEFFREYS is not a special interest group candidate nor has his candidacy been a spur-
of-the-moment decision. His only personal interest is to serve us, the citizens. Curtis has had the de-
sire to serve us in this capacity for several years and made the decision o year ago to file in this
election.
:o
DO YOU REALLY KNOW THIS MAN???
Dear Citizens
We have known CURTIS JEFFREYS for many years and during these years we have known
him as a boy growing up, as a student in school, as a young man desiring to get established in life
and to raise a family, as a parent, teacher, School, and Business Administrator, As a Christian man,
as a family man, as an active leader in youth, farm, civic and administrative organizations, and as a
neighbor and friend.
We have seen CURTIS JEFFREYS challenge and encourage others to better themselves. He will
laugh with them in success, or pat them on the back and say "keep trying,” or shed tears with them
in defeat.

LANGLEY, Va. (AP) — President
Carter, telling CIA employees “we
trust you," has praised them for hon-
esty, integrity, heroism, high pro-
fessionalism and superb work.
"You have made my job easier,"
the president told several hundred
agency employees outside CIA head-
quarters Wednesday. "You do a su-
perb job."
Carter said the CIA has improved
its relations with the American public
and Congress in recent months be-
cause his administration is allowing
greater publicity of the agency’s non-
spying activities.
"I appreciate what you are; what
you do; the high professionalism,
training, education, experience that
you bring to your job and which you
demonstrate every day with your good
work; the honesty and integrity that
you present to me and to your other
superiors, to the Congress, to the pub-
lic for critical examination," he said.
Carter said CIA employees must
meet higher standards of honesty
than other government officials "be-
cause the slightest mistake on your
part is highly publicized and greatly
magnified, whereas your great
achievements and successes quite
ften are not publicized and are not
recognized, and very certainly are
never exaggerated.”
Carter noted that 35 agents had died
in the service, including 17 whose
names have not been made public be-
cause they died in secret operations.
