The annual fail clean up of the Wich-
ita Mountains Wildlife Refuge will be-
gin at 9 a m Saturday. east of the
Quanah Parker Campground. Paul
Cook chairman of the coordinating
committee, said today
Some 1,000 Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts
Campfire Girls, and members of other
youth organizations from an ll-county
area are expected to participate. Cook
said
The Great Plains Association and
Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, Inc are
working with the refuge staff and
youth organizations in planning the
campaign
The VFW Post No 526. led by Robert
E Martin, will assign groups to the 35
areas to be cleaned and will man the
collection points
Lunch will be provided following the
clean up Sharon Phillips will head the
Lawton Jaycee Jaynes food effort at
the Burford Lake Campgrounds
Several merchants have donated food
for the campaign They include Burger
King. Dairy Queen, Der-Wienerschnit-
zel. Lew Johnson's Restaurant.
McDonalds. Underwood’s. Wonder
Bread, Mead s Baker. Coca-Cola Bot-
tling Company, and Pepsi-Cola Bottling
Co.
Pepsi, East Sales Co and Coors dis-
tributors will be on hand to gather
cans and bottles for recycling
The Voluntary Action Center and the
Oklahoma Great Plains Country Asso-
ciation are also participating.
Cook said that an event like this
helps "create an awareness and in-
volvement of the people in doing some-
thing to correct attitudes towards pro-
letting our own property.”
