from behind, threatening to
kill him with a hook bill knife
Alderson claimed Browning. a
twice convicted felon. slashed
at his throat several times
Alderson’s arm was cut in the
attack Another former patrol-
man. Albert McKenzie, sub-
dued Browning with a night-
stick
Browning later claimed he
was beaten by Alderson and
two other officers during the
arrest and in an elevator at

son and McKenzie were fired

probe of the incident, in-
cluding allegations of perjury

sentence Thursday by Chief
Dstrict Judge Jack Brock af-
ter he pleaded guilty to a
charge of unauthorized use of
a motor vehicle
Lott was arrested May 12 in
connection with the theft of a

died Thursday evening in a
nursing home here following a
brief illness

Albert Allen Collins, 22,
Edinburg, Tex., entered a
plea of guilty in district court
here Thursday to a charge of
unauthorized use of a motor
vehicle.
District Judge J. Winston
Raburn followed a district at-
torney's office recommenda-
tion and handed Collins a two-
year deferred sentence.
Collins was arrested Aug. 8
on U.S. 277 a mile north of
Lawton by Highway Patrol

night armed robbery of John-

Jack Eli, who was manag-
ing the store at the time, said
two men took an unspecified
amount of money in the rob
bery, which occurred at ap-
proximately 9 45 p m
Eli said one man was
browsing around the store
when another appeared. bran-
dished a revolver and stated:
"Give me the money ” Four
persons in a yard across the
street from the store told po-
lice two men ran from the
store about that time and
jumped into a late model
while Ford and sped away
Det. Sgt Jay Vickers said
he just had gotten off work
about 11 30 p m and was leav-
ing the police station parking
lot in his private vehicle when
he saw a car fitting the de-
scriptinn heading east on
Gore. Vickers said he followed
the car to a Cagle's Stop-N-
Shop at Second and Bell
Vickers observed one man
who fit the description of one
of the suspects given by Eli
and motioned to Comanche
County deputy Clinton
Sprauve, who just happened to
be in the area
After the pair was arrested
by the two officers, their car.

ventory of the vehicle, police

here in 1910 She was married
to Julius W. Golden on Dec.
24, 1910, in Sterling He died
March 4, 1973. Mrs. Golden
was a member of Elgin
United Methodist Church
Survivors include two sis-
ters. Mrs Granville Miller,
Sterling and Mrs Mabel Old-
ham. Chickasha, and two
brothers, Ken Huffine. Rush
Springs and Lawrence Huff-
me, Washington, D.C.

27 years Miss Bonnell was a

church.
Survivors include her sister.

recent police brutality hear-
ings here, will apparently
stand trial Sept 20 on a
charge of assault with a dead-
ly weapon following former
conviction of a felony
Special District Judge Rod
ney Hassell and District At-
torney Don Beauchamp con
firmed reports Thursday of
plea bargaining intended to
produce a suspended sentence
for Browning in return for a
guilty plea to a reduced
charge.
However, the "arrange-
ment" collapsed when Nick
Alderson, the victim of the al-
leged assault, refused to go
along.
Browning reportedly was to
have received a one-to-three
year suspended sentence in
the assault case provided the
"after former felony con-
viction" phrase was dropped
from the charge and he en-
tered a guilty plea
