and is expected to leave Friday
for Washington. Israeli news-,
papers said. Foreign Ministry
officials declined to confirm |
this.
Attending today's meeting
was Foreign Minister Abba
Eban, Israel's ambassador to
the United States, Yitzhak Ra-
bin, and its permanent repre-
sentative at the United Nations,
Yosef Tekoah.
Sisco In the past week has
held extensive talks with Israeli
leaders, including Premier
Golda Meir and Defense Min-
ister Moshe Dayan.
The talks dealt with pros-
pects for a partial Egyptian-Is-
raeli settlement aimed at re-
opening the Suez Canal, closed
during the 1967 war.
In another development, con-
struction of patrol roads along
Israel's northern frontier has
effectively halted Arab guer-
rilla activity in the area, the
chief of the Israeli army's
northern command said.
Brig. Gen. Mordechai Gur
said the guerrillas had virtually
abandoned the northern slopes
of the Hei mon Mountain, an
area once so populated with
guerrillas the Israelis dubbed it
"Fatahland" after the largest
of the commando organizations,
Al Fatah.

SINGAPORE (AP) - Ameri-
can newsman Simon Casady, a
native of Oklahoma, said
Wednesday he plans to slay in
neighboring Malaysia for some'
time following his expulsion
from Singapore.
Casady, 62, was denied a re-
newal of his visa and told he
would have to make a formal
application to return, even as a
tourist, an unusual require-
ment. He and his wife moved to
the Malaysian mainland over
the weekend.
Casady said he knew of no
reason for the government’s ac-
tion, but it was believed due to
the fact that at one time he ac-
ted as an adviser to the East-
ern Sun newspaper. The paper
was forced to dose last May
after the government accused it
of getting funds from Commu-
nist sources.
Casady came to Singapore in
1969 as a member of the Inter-
national Executive Service
Corps to be a consultant to a
prospective publisher. Just be-
fore his visa expired, he was
named Southeast Asia corre-
spondent of the John P. Scripps
newspaper chain, of California
and Washington.
Casady lived in San Diego be-
fore coming to Singapore and
published a paper at El Cajon,
Calif., after working for papers
in Oklahoma, Texas and Ari-
zona.
