A local druggist reported Saturday that nerve medicine sales
44 have declined sharply.
Something better has been invented—back to school.
Most moms probably won’t admit it, but we can imagine
their delight when school bells Tuesday tolled the beginning
of another school year.
Anyway, it’s surprising how quickly the roses return to a
young mother’s cheeks when the young ones are gone for the
day.
Ah ha, just as I suspected—some Lawton mom is saying
right now over her morning coffee:
“Isn’t that just like a bachelor? They always think they
know more about kids than mothers and fathers!”
It seems to me bachelors and old maids are inclined to be
more up on the subject of children because we are on the out-
side looking in.
Remember. sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees.
In this case, most parents can't see the nursery for the kids.
Besides, I once was a kid myself. A model one, of course.
“What’s the matter with kids? Why can’t they be like we
were. perfect in every way?” so the song goes.
Nothing is the matter with kids! Except, of course, that they
aren’t old enough to be adults.
But of course while Lawton mothers free themselves from
the tranquilizer habit, the poor old school marms will have to
start popping pills now.
It’s not that kids are really ornery or mean, they just
have so much energy.
One “teach” we heard of has the only real solution.
Give the kids the tranquilizers.
And now for a look at civic club happenings and activities ,
in the city of Lawton for the coming week:
AMERICAN BUSINESS CLUB—Meets Thursday noon at
Underwood’s Cafeteria.

Forrest Brewster set bond for
each at $10,000.
Officers said Tommy Ellis
McGlocklin and Charles Wayne

captured shortly after they used
a hacksaw blade to cut through
bars of their cells.
McGlocklin was being held on
a charge of interstate transpor-
tation of a stolen car and Cuv-
eas was to have been trans-
ferred to the federal reforma-
tory at El Reno, after pleading
guilty to a similar charge.
The third prisoner charged
with attempted jail break was
Gary Wendell Fryar of Oklaho-
ma City. Fryar, accused of the
June 12 armed robbery of the
Vian State Bank, was arraigned

ing was set on each of the three
cases.
Mrs. Kerma Sue Walters, Del
City is being held on $20,000
bond in the federal jail on charg-
es of aiding Fryar in the bank
