Two members of the McAlester
Junior Chamber of Commerce will
address the Miller Hall coeds
tonight at 10:30 about the Miss
McAlester Peageant slated for
March 13 in theS. Arch Thompson
Auditorium.
"We would like to have 12 to 15
girls this year," stated Dale Ward,
who along with Walter Bethune will
speak.
"There are a lot of pretty girls
at Eastern with talent and we
would certainly like to have them
enter," continued Ward.
The girls must be 18 by Sept 1
to enter and never have been
married. There is no age limit.
Although they will be speaking
to the girls as a group, if any are
interested they may confer with the
two Jaycee members after the talk.

Alarm clocks are disturbing the
silence of the campus dormitories
almost an hour before the break of
dawn this semester. For the first
time, Eastern has added 7 30 a.m.
classes to the schedule and is
running the classes starting at the
half hour.
1 The earliest class in previous
years has started at 8 a.m. and in
the Student Senate Tuesday it was
suggested that the Senate try to
convince the faculty to return to
the old system. It's not likely.
Despite the yawning and
arguments against the early hour, it
has been justified by positive facts.
"With the increase in our
enrollment last fall, we were cut
short in classroom space, especially
for our technical programs,"
explained Dr. Hobart Means, dean
of instruction.
By adding an hour to each day.

The 1971 yearbook will be

M-111 but books will cost S7 in
May.
Six students were selected to the
All State chorus of 100 to perform
for the Music Educator's National
Convention in Oklahoma City Jan
24, and were the first from Eastern
ever to achieve the honor.
Becky Kreisher , Mike Love,
Kathy Taylor, Gary Jennings, Gary
Smallwood and Bud Hogan were
the six named.
The chorus is composed of
singers from 24 of the state colleges
and universities and "when they
select six from Eastern, I think this
a great honor."
The chorus was directed by Dr.
David Foltz whom Pratt says "is a
nationally recognized choral
authority.”

this gives us flexibility in our
scheduling. Hopefully, the classes
that have many sections will have
one of those sections at 7:30," he
said.
"This is actually a trial run for
next fall. We still maintain
flexibility in the scheduling even
though some scheduled classes from
10:30 to 12:30 and worked
themselves out of lunch. That's
why we've had to change some of
them."
Will the earliness of the class
affect the students' attention and
ability to recall?
"I don't think so," stated Dr.
Means "We hope to have the
schedule fixed so that nobody gets
one unless it is absolutely
necessary. That way if the early
risers would like a class at that
time, we can accommodate them,”
he added.
