THE LIGHT FRANCHISE
In another column will be found
the ordinance granting to R E
Stalcup an electric light fran-
chise also the ordinance author-
izing the special election for its
ratification or rejection "by the
voters of the incorporated town
as provided for by the Constitu
tionof Oklahoma In presenting
this franchise to the people the
council does so believing that it
is the very best that could be se-
cured considering the size of the
town and the nominal sum to be
spent by the city' for lights but
the people of Stigler shonld not
be satisfied with the judgment of
the couucil on this important
matter but they should study the
franchise and discuss it The
Constitution of Oklahoma makes
possible for the people to get the
best bargains in all manner of
municipal improvement and we
should not be slow to take advan-
tage of it Study the franchise
If in your judgment it is a good
one vote for it If it is not a good
one' vote against it but do not be
deceived by the man who tells
you how it ought to be Think

“It is certainly desirable that
in connection with measures to
restrain stock watering and over-

measures taken to prevent the
grosser form of gambling in se-

making large sales of what men
do not possess and ‘cornering
the market - There is no raora
difference between gambling in
cards or in lotteries or on the
race track and gambling in the
stock market One method is

McIntosh Has Not Had
Liquor Law Violation
McIntosh county bears the un-

county in Oklahoma that has not
had a case of violation of the-prohibition

The above is the most monu-
mental d — lie we have ever heard
come frorp the town of Eufaula —
and we have heard some bigones
before this Two officers a jus-
tice of the peace and a constabl
have visited the great and virtu-
ous county site of McIntosh coun-
ty the past week and both came
back with the tale that whiskey
and beer — the real stuff too —
Jlowed free and was served open-
y and above board We fear
that the trouble is that the whole
town of Eufaula stays so darn
drunk that they do not realize
when the prohibition law is vio-
lated Wait till Judge Cole de-
livers a charge to the grand jiiry
of the above named county and
we will bet a bottlfe of soda-pop
that he has some ofEufaula’s virtuous-
magnanimous prohi’s
