The account ot the attempted
hold-up in the last issue of the
Porum Press reads like a joke
Is it really a fact'Bro Crouch
that you have bold bad hold-up
men in vonr community? -
With the advent of statehood
the number of Federal judges in
Oklahoma will probably be re-
duced to two The people of
this district- without regard to
political affiliations would be glad

on the jFederaHbench for the

The New Voter -:
Our morning contemporary
urges the new voterj of the new
state to line up with r the ' Repub-
lican party using thei r stock an d
trade argument for the past 20
years ye are IT
For so many years have this
pap suckers and pie hunters of
the g o p been prone to strike
their chests and insist that they
make the sun - shine the water
run and the grass grow that
they have actually come to be-
lieve it and are amazed that any
one should dispute with them
Our contemporary rashly asks
the new voter to study the his-
tory of the-Re publican party for
proof that they should cast -the:r
lot with it With the galling
yoke of Hitch cockisni and Can-
nonism and carpetbagism yet
- upon the necks of our peoplethis

Stigler Indian Territory' as

is indeed rashness personified
With the Aldrichs thd Platts and
the Depews still making and run-
ning the United States senate
and the unsavory' history of the
Burtons the Mitchells etc fresh
in the minds of the public' this
is effrontery that offers insult to
ordinary intelligence “ With the
Standard Oil Co the Beef Trust
the Steel Trust an the Insur-
ance trust and others with their
startling and noisome ex posu res
— exposures that show upon the
witness stand that they have been
hand and glove with the republi-
party in breeding a commercia’-
ism and corruption-that perme-
ates the body politic throughout
this appeal for those of the new
state who are soon to -cast : their
first vote to join with the Repub-
lican party if it were not so se
rious a matter mjght be called a
joke Z
With the term “Republican
ism” having become a synonym
for commercialism "pure and
sim pie with the country turning
to Wm J Bryan as the exponent
of a change for better and clean-
er things thereis no more incen-
tive for a patriotic new voter in a
new state to cast his fortune wfth
aparty of political degerieracyand
dissolution than there would be
for- him to officially announce
that he was ready and willing to
promote greed and graft political
corruption an chicanery and
turn the country over to the-fin-ancial
nabobs of the east
The time has’ come when the
Republican party cannot ride
upon the reputatiob of the party
of Lincoln Grant and Garfield
Its taboggan slide from these pa-
triots and great statesmen to the
thrifty littlecabal at Washington
that now control the party des-
tiny has been so sure and swift
that even a “first voter” in the
new state will readily detect the
genuine from the counterfeit
Thejr will not be blinded - by the
past glories of a onqe great party
of party leaders they will be
found looking at present condi-
tions and studying their cause's
and voting accordingly— Times
