Mr Bennett &Weakland the
contractors of the Coke ovens that
are to ho built at McCurtain arriv-

day Workjwas begun preparing
the ground for the ovens last Mon-
day morning and by the last of
this week they expect to have every
idle man in this community at
work The contract calls for one
hundred ovens and it 'is probable
that before the entire work is com-
plete we will see three hundred coke
ovens constantly sending forth
the blue flames of burning oal in
the town of McCurtain
An interview with the Sitperlu-
tcndant of the oven’s enables us
to say that every man iu this com-
munity need not spend his time iu
idleness Mr AVcakfand further
states that I don’t expect to - use
anything but local labor and I be-
lieve that 1 can carry on the work
suecesfiily without having to im-
port uy more than the few old ex-
perienced oven builders that I have
brought with me and as long as
I’m treated right by the local labor
you may rest assured that you will
get the preferance lie further
