Abe Burrows' Americanized
version of "Cactus Flower" is now
being presented through April 22
in the Theatre
A Broadway hit for two and a
half years, "Cactus Flower '
scored a phenomenal success in
Paris in its original French version
by Pierre Barrillet and Jean
Gredy
The two act play will feature
a cast of 11 students, 15 scenes
and about 30 different costumes,
said Larry Beleele, director
Former Miss Midwest City
Wendy Harrison (Stephanie) will
play the part of a prim dentist's
secretary who changes her per
sonality in a discotheque The plot
of the comedy is concerned with
the wacky circumstances that
cause her to bloom like the cactus
plant on her desk
Doug Dial (Julian), who has
acted in numerous plays, including
1984, will play the role of the
dentist that Stephanie works for
He is an infatuated young play
boy who, to insure his bachelor
status, has told his temporary
playmate, Sabrina Huddleston
(Toni), that he is married and has
three children The part of Toni is
Huddleston's first major role
When Julian calls off a dinner
date with Tom, she thinks their af
fair is hopeless and attempts sui-

once she gets into the game, she
sees the opportunity to prove to
her 'blind ' boss that she isn't the
prudish young cutie he thinks she

This prompts jealousy from Ju-
lian and draws him and Stepha
me closer together, leaving Toni
free to further her relationship
with her nice young neighbor,
Terry Veal (Igor). Veal is a drama
major whose credits include
Barefoot In the Park" and
1984
Overall, Cactus Flower" is filled
with a series of laughable corn
plications and updated music to
complement the four uniquely de
signed and constructed sets
Others in the cast are two pa
tients drawn into Julian's dilem
mas, Wymond Duncan (Harvey),
a business major, who played in
"Guys and Dolls" and "Birdie"
and Stan Bean (Senor Sanchez),
who was the mayor in "Birdie "
Billy Moore, who was in the
chorus of "Birdie" and Mark Jack
son, a history major, are custom-
ers in the play
Rita McCurtain (Boticelli s
Springtime), a law major. plays the
role of Harvey's girlfriend, and Tom-
mie Boswood acts as the insulted
waitress.
Belinda Christ (Miss Durant),a
drama major, has played in "Bir
die, "Our Hearts Were Young
and Gay and "The Best Man." In
Cactus Flower" she is a patient
of Julian.
The curtain will rise on the corn
edy at 8.15 each evening, and is
free to all students with an activi
