MANNFORD EAGLE
524 S. Main, Broken Arrow, OK 74012
in the region will continue to be assigned
918 as the supply allows.
Customers will always be able to re-
quest a 918 number, and will be assigned
one if it is available.
The “overlay" of 539 onto the region
served by 918 will not change long dis-
tance boundaries. For example, a call
from Mannford to Tulsa will remain a lo-
cal call, even if the call is from a 539 num-
ber to a 918 number.
The North American Numbering Plan
Administration (NANPA) currently esti-
mates the supply of 918 numbers will run
out (“exhaust") in the fourth quarter of
2012. This estimate is subject to change.

it s no April Fool s joke - the new 539
area code is set to be assigned, starting
on April 1.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commis-
sion said that it is not certain if a 539
number will be assigned right away.
They do know the first phone number to
get the 539 area code will have the prefix
664.
How quickly the 539 area code is as-
signed to other prefixes will depend on
how many 918 numbers are left for a par-
ticular prefix. Many new phone numbers
Dennis and Jo Ann Watson. of Mann-
ford have been recognized nationally
by the American Angus Association for
having three registered Angus cows in-
cluded in the Association's 2011 Path-
finder Report.
Only 2,099 of the nearly 30,000 Amer-
ican Angus Association members are
represented in this year's report, ac-
cording to Bill Bowman, chief operat-
ing officer and director of performance
programs of the Association with head-
quarters in Saint Joseph, Missouri. The
Pathfinder Program identifies superior
Angus cows based upon recorded per-
formance traits that are economically
important to efficient beef production.
These traits include early and regular
calving and heavy weaning weights.

A Wagoner County jury
found an area woman
guilty of first-degree
murder of her stepson
on Friday afternoon.
After deliberating for
about three and a half
hours, the jury came
back with this verdict on
Shiloh Brafford. 29.
Brafford had been on
trial all of last week on
charges that she caused
the fatal injuries to her
15-month-old stepson.
Davis Ryan Brafford, in
July of 2008.
Brafford had told au-
thorities that Davis had
hurt his head when he
hit it on some tile while
getting out of the pool
at their home, but hos-
pital officials disputed
that claim, according to
Bowman says. Over 1.9 million eligible
dams and more than 6.2 million wean-
ing records were examined to deter-
mine Pathfinder status. All registered
Angus cows that meet the strict Path-
finder standards are listed, along with
their owners, in the Pathfinder Report
that is published annually by the As-
sociation.
The 2011 Pathfinder Report lists
9,083 individual cows and 242 Path-
finder sires. It is published online at
www.angus.org. and printed copies
are available from the Association.
The largest number of Pathfinder
cows from a single herd this year is
86. Started in 1978, the Pathfinder
Program continues to recognize out-
standing breeders participating in
the Angus Herd Improvement Records
Program.
