Important Notice about
MHS Graduation
At the last school board meeting, the board
members voteo to adjust the start time for Marr
nford High School’s 2009 graduation in order to
accommodate the state baseball tournament.
The graduation ceremony is now scheduled
to start at 1 p.m. The date and place remain
the same: May 16 at the TU Reynolds Center.
Seniors are busy completing school work, and
Senior Class Sponsors Gregory Smith and
Melissa Newbury are busy coordinating all of
the details necessary for a successful event. At
the present time, students are being asked to
provide photos that feature graduating seniors
for a slide show for the ceremony; one of the
graduating seniors is putting that together. On
-April 6, the Jostens representative will be at the
high school to deliver announcement orders. A
student must have cash or a money order in
order to pick up his/her order. Caps and gowns
will be handed out at a time closer to the gradu-
ation date. The prom is April 11 and the last
day to purchase a ticket for that is April 1. This
is also the last month to buy a 2009 yearbook.
Other upcoming events of interest to graduating
seniors are the Baccalaureate service to be held
May 13 and the senior breakfast and graduation
practice that will take place on May 15.

A memorial service for rural Mannford
resident Steve Minney was held Friday,
March 13 in the Oak Hill Church of Key-
stone Lake, north of Mannford on High-
way 48. Cremation arrangements were
entrusted to Michael’s Funeral Home of
Drumright. Okla.
Steve was born in Drumright Feb. 5.
1972 to Dennis and Yana Minney. He
passed from this life March 9, 2009
in Tulsa at the age of 37 years old.
Steve was raised and educated in this
area and was a graduate of Olive High
School. He lived in the Mannford area
and worked as a carpenter in the con-
struction field.
He liked to play video games, draw
and spend time with his family and
friends. He also loved carpentry.
He was preceded in death by his
grandfather Delmar Minney.
Steve is survived by three children.
Destiny Minney, Danielle Henry and
Devin Minney; his parents Dennis and
Yana Minney, of Mannford; a sister,
Stephanie Bartlett and her husband
Robert, of Mannford; a brother, Todd
Minney and his companion Desire’
Green, of Oilton; Steve’s girlfriend,
Shelly Burton, of Mannford; grand-
mothers Betty Minney, of Mannford.
Jean Connell, of Coweta; also numer-
ous other relatives and many friends.

Doris Ressie Viner, 95, of Mannford en-
tered into eternal rest March 14, 2009 in
Cleveland, Okla.
Doris was born Oct. 29, 1913 in Hollis-
ter, Mo. to parents Trent and Margaret
Jones.
She was a homemaker and was mar-
ried to Vernon Viner in 1931 in Emerson.
Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her par-
ents. husband, two brothers and one sis-
ter; two daughters, Linda Kay Viner and
Roni Rolen; two sons, Loren Duane and
Ed Viner.
Doris is survived by children, Neta and
Bill Hallcock, of Tucson, Ariz., Steve and
Janet Viner, of Edmond, Okla.; twenty-
one grandchildren and numerous great
and great great grandchildren.
Services were held March 18 at Mann-
ford Full Gospel Church. Interment will
be March 20 at Emerson Cemetery in
Emerson, Iowa.

sisters, Judy, Linda, Pam, Penny and
Laura.
He was preceded in death by Herman
D. Curtis.
Darrell had a very blessed life and he
loved life and his family very much.
He loved to go deer hunting and loved
almost anything outdoors, anything
chocolate, especially peppermint pat-
ties.
He loved to take road trips with his
wife Kim, sometimes not even knowing
where they were going but sure they
would always have fun.
Darrell was a wonderful husband,
dad, son, brother and friend. Our fam-
ily wants to thank Dr. Eiman, Sojourn
Care, New Hope Baptist Church and
Mannford Funeral Home.

but great moments often catch us un-
