collecting to help Jerry's Kids. They knew going in that they would most
likely not be able to collect more than stations with 22 people collecting
or even stations with 10 -12 people collecting, and they didn't. However,
that is not why they did it. They wanted to do their best, just like the
majority of Oklahoma's firefighters always do. They are just another
example, just like you, that Oklahoma's firefighters are ALL FOR ONE
AND ONE FOR ALL. I know you'll do your best.
Until next time, STAY SAFE!

Hello, everyone. I hope that you had a great
summer and an even greater summer vacation.
Here we are already at Labor Day and the year
is 2/3 over. The decade is already almost half
over, and it seems like just yesterday that we were worried about the
catastrophe that was expected when the calendar changed to 2000!
Speaking of Labor Day, it's that wonderful time again when we fill the
boot for MDA. More specifically, we fill the boot for people afflicted with
diseases under the MDA umbrella. I certainly hope that you are, are
going to, or have been filling the boot for this worthy cause. MDA has
been the chosen charity of firefighters for many, many years. Just try to
remember that whether you like MDA personnel or whether you have
had your differences with them, it's not about MDA; it's about the
individuals who are counting on the cure. It's about the children who
hold out hope, who look up to firefighters as their heroes. It's about
them and finding that cure that will allow them to live a happy and
healthy life.
Last year, the crew that I worked with only had five people on it on our
shift. Each of them worked their rear ends off to collect as much as they

could. I'm proud to say that they collected the most of any single company
house in Oklahoma City and gave the top collecting multi-company houses *
a real run for their money. We finished fourth overall in collections out of-
all stations and all shifts in the city that was the highest in collectionsin,
the state. I believe that they deserve recognition for that. Lieutenant
Greg Nicholson, Corporal Cameron Weems, Corporal Lorri Davis, and •
